Comment:
The course was largely based around a group project and a paper from a co-requisite class. His "practice tests" use the same questions as his actual tests, so attendance and textbook reading is not mandatory. He is a great professor though who is passionate about engineering and helping students learn.

Final project can be extremely fun depending on your group members and topic choice. Make sure not to leave everything til the last minute. Just read the textbook and go to lectures and you should be fine for tests. Lectures are hilarious and interesting.

This was a very interesting and enjoyable class! Although a lot of the topics talked about are in his book, should go to lectures anyways because they can be entertaining and thought provoking. John Jones is very wise.

This is an engineering history class that covers nearly 1,000,000 years. Jon Jones presents it in an interesting and passionate way. No need to take notes in his class, just pay attention during lectures. The final group project can be a lot of fun if you choose the right topic.

I would say in the whole engineering faculty at SFU, both Dr. John Jones and Dr. Kevin Oldknow compete for the top spot on the engineering students favourite teachers list. He is an amazing lecturer, and as he says at the beginning of every lecture, there is no need to take notes.

Excellent speaker and a very nice professor. He wrote the textbook himself, so he remembered everything in the book pretty much. This course was boring since it was about history related things but if you like history, its fine.

Dr Jones is very interesting to listen to. His accent is very soothing and he has a great sense of humour. Going to lectures can get boring, but as long as you read the book you'll do fine.

Great and patient professor. Very dedicated man. Quiz difficulty is a little unreasonable but scales appropriately. Applies pressures on students quite fairly as well.

Dr. Jones is a great prof. He's super enthusiastic about pretty much everything he lectures on. You can get by in the class without reading the textbook, but on the tests there are quite a few questions on the tests on material not covered in lecture, so you're better off reading the text.
