Comment:
He kind of rambles during lecture and stops talking completely when he's distracted. Very strict grader, you must write everything exactly how he wants it, changing it just a little bit will make you lose the mark. You'll likely pass if you put in the work. See him in person for help, he only writes "no" if you did something wrong on an assignment

Amazing professor. He is friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Everything you learn in his class is relevant to the real world. Assignments usually consist of a page of writing, except for the final report (no final exam). My writing abilities have substantially improved after taking his course. I highly recommended taking CMNS 1115 with him.

He was arrogant and cold. He never once smiled or seemed to approve of anything. He offered extra credit and only allowed certain student to get it...by answering questions in class, which I did several times, but he never gave me points. Couldn't read his handwriting and he never gave feedback until after it was too late to hand in corrections.

I would not recommend this teacher. Grading system is unclear and unfair. He can say that your draft is perfect, but then you can get C- for final version. I was very stressed. I did not sleep properly before his lectures trying to prepare better. But no encouragement, no help from him. I was up and down in marks from C- to A+. Final B+.

First, no matter how hard you work he can still mess around with your entire grade by giving you a lower mark on the term report at the end of the semester. Did not do a good job explaining the MAJOR term assignment, and dropped my mark from a A- to a B-, there are better professor DON'T TAKE HIM PS reading book is better than his entire class lec.

Took Phil for Workplace writing, found him to be arrogant and an extreemly hard marker. I will admit english is not my forte but this guy expects WAYYY too much for a first year course. Hated the report assignment, totally irrelevent to my life. NOT RECOMENDED WHAT SO EVER.

Awesome teacher - really enjoyed his class (but I have a background in CMNS). Got a great mark on the final paper due to showing up and putting an effort out - that's all it really takes. He's very multi-cultural conscious as well

Dr. Phil is a nice guy and you can tell that he enjoys teaching. However, he needs to show actual examples/templates of what he expects for each assignment. Overall, if you put effort into each assignment you will do well in his class. Heed the words he writes on the blackboard - it will make the difference between an A and a B.

Well, where do I start. He teaches his class backwards. Before the assignment is almost due, he will give you tons of new information as to how he wants it to look, change things etc. I am extremely frustrated and would not reccomend this class if you actually want to learn something. Good for a credit only.

He's a nice, respectful man and a good teacher. Would be easier for students if he gave handouts when explaining what he wants instead of speed writing it on the board (you forget it). Will randomly call on students so pay attention ! An easy course if English is your first language. If it isn't, make sure you get up to speed beforehand or die.
