Comment:

I took Swahili with Dr. Kalubi. He is hilarious! He tells so many amazing stories about his life and about Africa in general. The homework is very easy but still helps you learn. The textbook is used a lot, and it's worth buying because it is really helpful. Swahili is by far the best class I've taken so far.

I took Intro to Modern Africa online with Dr. Kalubi. You take a quiz every week or every other week that is 10 questions and you have an hour to complete. The quiz is not word for word out of the book and makes you do critical thinking. You will complete 4 to 5 three page papers and 1 final five page paper. MLA is a must know for these papers!!!

Learning a new language can be tough And Dr. Kalubi understands that. He is extremely helpful and he makes sure you get it right. And by the way, he is hilarious!

The course consisted of one or two quizzes a week with the answer word for word out of the book. Also, we had to watch long YouTube videos and write a response paper about them. Crazy about MLA. Takes forever to grade. Hardly responded to emails.

I took intro to modern Africa as an online course. EVERY week you had to do online homework and write one or two papers. & almost every week, you had to watch at least one hour long youtube video about Africa. His instructions weren't clear & he did not respond to any of my emails. He did not post any grades until week 14. Would not recommend.

I am taking Swahili 102 and Dr. Kalubi is an amazing teacher. Not strict, but very passionate. He will work with you until you understand the material. He keeps class lighthearted and makes great conversation. Highly recommended!

Dr.Kalubi is a very good teacher and a good person at heart. I loved attending his AFAM class and I passed it with a B. He is understanding and has good communication and listening skills. He is one of the few best professors at the University of Cincinnati.
