Professor Martin is awesome. I would definitely take him again. He explains things clearly and in detail, but is a little quiet so sit close to the front. Martin gives each and every student full respect as long as you are respectful to him. Don't have your phone going off in class, and feel free to ask questions. Great prof!

John gives concise lectures with lots of examples. When I've asked he has happily answered my questions after class while wiping down the board. He makes you feel good about answering his questions correctly and doesn't put you down if you get something wrong. MATH110 is a tough class and I recommend doing practice out of class, regardless of prof.

Good prof, does lots of examples and he is easy to understand. I recommend sitting closer to the front because he usually does not wear the mic. Do lots of examples prior to the tests and make sure you understand the material fully and you can do very well.

He knows calculus and teaches it well, delivery is annoying. All in cursive on the chalkboard, hard to see and read sometimes, but if you can get by that, he is a very good teacher. He doesn't really interact with the class, very old-fashioned lecturer. Does not post notes so if you rely on them to study, go to class.

Very good math prof. Spent a lot of time on examples in class that were very useful and helped understand the concepts. Highly recommend doing the textbook assignments to accompany his notes. Overall great prof, just don't talk in class or have your phone go off.

His lectures were excellently outlined and well done. He made the material somewhat easy to understand (there is not much to be done with calculus, you either get it or you don't) My only put off with him was when he lost it on someone when there phone went off in class.

His lectures were straightforward, clear, and he encouraged participation. Always friendly and careful to not make anyone feel stupid. However, the examples in class are quite easy, so I found it a better use of time to skip class, read the text, and do the assigned problems. All exams were fair (but marking can be spotty: double check).

Prof Martin teaches a very hard and broad subject. A fantastic prof who loves his job! The material is all hard and rely on knowledge gained from Math 110 and 116. Because of this it is very easy to get lost in some of his explanations. He has the bad habit of continuing to talk on his inhale and exhales, so sitting near the front is recommended.

John Martin is a great prof and he teaches a hard course. Martin is good at explaining concepts although he moves very quickly. His writing is really hard to read and he sometimes talk quietly but these flaws are not significant enough to be a problem. Good prof, I would take another course from him.

The best math prof I have ever had. Teaches from the ground up and stresses comprehension at every level of math. Brings the entire class together to answer questions off the board. While the math department will try to screw you on occasion, Martin never does. He received a standing ovation from the entire class at term end. Excellent prof!

Make sure you know all your math rules from high school. midterms were tough and final was really tough. expect the hardest version of every question on that final... math 110 has one of the highest failure rates in U of S... good luck!

I absolutely hate calculus. As I have taken the course twice, I can definitely say that John Martin is the best math prof, in comparison to others I've seen. He starts with the basics, and uses many examples to illustrate the material. Very friendly man who doesn't make students feel stupid when they don't understand. Highly recommended.

Best introductory math teacher in comparison to what I have HEARD about other profs. If you're a poor student, I recommend selecting his class as he uses MANY MANY examples. He isn't responsible for marking any papers, so I marked his easiness based on that.

Gret Prof. Had him for 110 as well, and he is just as good, if not better in 116. He gives example after example, and he's friggin hilarious. Take his class if you can. You won't regret it.

An amusing, quirky prof. He sometimes mumbles or speaks quietly but most of the time it's not truly relevant. Insanely good lectures - they are at an excellent tempo that one can take a lot from. Highly recommended.

Math 110 was definitely my most challenging class! The midterms and final are difficult(the TA's write the tests) but many of the examples we did in class were exactly the same as the questions on the test. Martin was always encouraging, and made sure we were well prepared. He was clear and concise, and didn't have an accent. Overall, great Prof!

He's a great prof. Not only gives defintions and proofs, but he also gives many examples. Compared to the other profs, he definitely made things easier by providing many examples for people to practice. Final wasn't bad; if you take Math 110, take it from Martin!

I have sat in on other math classes and Martin's is the easiest to understand. I am pretty sure his class averages are consistently higher then other profs. If you have to take maths take it from this man.
