He is odd at first but he is not a bad teacher. He knows what he's teaching. The material may be hard but he tries to make sure he gives appropriate homework for fair understanding of the topics learned in class. Don't miss class and do your homework! Also he could be some help if you use office hours well.

Theory 3 is the class everyone fails. And no, it's not because of the teacher. It's you. The material is HARD and Novak is perfectly capable of explaining everything clearly. Work hard outside of class. Please listen when I say take advantage of the PAL tutors and Novak's office hours. He may seem anxious in class but he cares about his students.

A real whiz at theory, but his master's is in piano pedagogy, so he doesn't exactly love teaching a whole class. Stuff will go over your head frequently, but he is very available after class. 3.5% off your grade for absence #3 and onward. Hard tests, study harder. DO THE HOMEWORK OR ENJOY ALL THE C'S AND D'S YOU'LL BE GETTING ON TESTS.

Great teacher, excellent pianist. Music theory is no cakewalk, and this guy is very knowledgeable and a good teacher. Do the work, think and learn your stuff and go to his office hours and you'll get a high grade. Do otherwise and you're just an idiot who shouldn't be a music major or probably even in college.

Do not pay any attention to this man. I went to class, took notes (many of which had to be revised because he self-admittedly makes mistakes during lecture), and got c's on tests. I stopped going to class, studying on my own, and got B's on the tests. He cannot explain music theory concisely at all. He means well, but teaching is not his forte.

At first he was hard to follow he is SO smart when it comes to music theory it sometimes goes over my head, but if you do the work, and pay attention, and follow up with him, he is amazing. He is funny and he really cares about his students. I really enjoy having him as a teacher!
