Prof. Paoletti will teach to you to read non-verbal texts, and in turn, open your eyes to all the visual propaganda and communication we absorb everyday. He is an art historian, but his lessons are nothing but contemporary.

Graduated in 1986. Art of the 20th Century was by far and away the best class I took in four years at Wes. He is a compelling lecturer. No one ever missed a class and several times we applauded a lecturer in mid-semester. Miss this guy at your own peril. Worth the cost of tuition.

My FYI on Michelangelo with Paoletti was insanely hard and equally good. He's a brilliant man and knows a ridiculous amount about Renaissance art. Fantasic at leading discussions. The only problem was that we got behind on the syllabus and therefore were in the position of writing 8 page papers on works we hadn't yet discussed in class.

Take any class w/ him if you're interested in politics, how visual languages are communicated to control public, power, etc. He is exceptionally knowlegeable, revolutionary in some sense, knows how to inspire a student, and approachible.

you could listen to this guy talk for hours- he's that interesting. be warned that he gives sadistic amounts of reading for homework. the reading's often dry, but the class is awesome.

Excellent lecturer, but make sure you're interested in the subject because he gets pretty detailed. A fair grader - i.e. no bull****, if you put in the effort, your grade shows it. He definitely doesn't start you with an A.
