Great guy who keeps class interesting. He uses power points but participation matters so you have to go to class. 10 quizzes and 3 tests. A lot of reading and case studies. Be prepared to really work for your grade!

One of my favorite professors at UD. I learned so much in his class and he is smart, understanding, fair, and overall a great person. I enjoyed going to this class and think that all Criminal Justice majors should take this class. Would definitely take him again.

Polk is a great guy. His lectures can be a little boring/powerpoint heavy but he tries to keep it interesting with little jokes. You don't have to go to class, he puts all of the material online. Textbook isn't really necessary because his notes are very detailed and he highlights the most important concepts/info.

My favorite professor. taken 4 classes with him. Very nice. Very knowledgable and class is fun. You don't necessarily have to do the readings but they help as tests can be comprehensive. no final. no attendance. Just pay attention and take good notes you will do well.

Polk is by far the best professor I've had yet at UD. His lectures are funny, interesting, and keep your attention the entire time. Exams are comprehensive so you have to know your stuff, but easy quiz points help your grade a ton. Will definitely be taking him again for any other classes he teaches!

Very interesting material. He knows how to keep everyone engaged and make sure they're doing the readings by randomly calling on people. Gives quizzes pretty much once a week, but they're a huge grade saver. Polk's the man!

His class convinced me to declare a major in Criminal Justice. The class covered very interesting material, and it was taught in a straightforward way-learn a rule, read a case discussing the rule. He cares about his students, and he's a really cool guy if you ever get a chance to talk to him. Will be taking more with him, definitely recommend.

Great class, awesome professor. By far my favorite class I've had so far at UD. Don't let the 400-level scare you. As long as you do the readings and know the FREs by the exams, you'll be fine. He really cares about his students' success and understanding, plus he's funny-will be taking more with him. Exams are easy if you can explain yourself.

Very interesting class. Unfortunately the exams are a little tricky. Make sure you know the rules of evidence and their language by heart. He's not a stiffler on the cases though. You can just refer to them as a general reference. Overall the class was worth it, I just wish the grading was different. (20 pt. Essay Exams),not much room for mistakes.

Excellent teacher, Excellent class. One of my favorite teachers at this university. He lays out his expectations on the first day, and if you follow them, you will get an A. Tests are a little tough bc you have to go a little beyond what is expecting. He starts everyone with a C and its pretty easy to work up from. Easy quizzes every class.

Polk is one of my favorite professors at UD. He's REALLY funny, and he makes class a blast. If you're a CRJU major, you NEED to take his class; it is that fun and you will learn a lot without even realizing it. There's a quiz every class (but his "hints" will make them a breeze), a midterm, and a final. Take Polk's class!

The class can get difficult with lots of rules of evidence to memorize, but he is a great guy and understands that your not an attorney. quizes are helpful and participation points can be earned. He is a great guy that makes a hard subject a little easier on you

Lots of rules of evidence, but will help you as much as he can. Quizes at the end of classes on content from previous week but he hints the questions/answers at begining of class. 2 exams = grade. Class will get out around 9/9:15 so dont be detered if it says 7-10.

I love this guy! He is really cool, tries to keep the class interesting by telling jokes. U have to read before class because he makes u participate. Quiz every class but he tells u the answers at the beginning of class. Pay attention and learn the rules. Easy A if you try. B if you don't
