Comment:

Prof. Quevedo truly cares for his students. Right off the bat he understands students trouble with math and includes a section on his syllabus on the psychology of the "growth mindset" and how it relates to math. each class starts with a 1 question quiz, usually from the homework. He also leads AGS which is SMC's honor society which I joined.

Comment:

I took this professor for Intermediate Algebra and wow I regret ever signing up for his class. I stayed for countless hours after school to do the study guides, practice problems, tutoring and I still didn't manage to pass this class with a C. The homework is about 10% of the grade and so is attendance the rest is all exams which is horrible.

Very patient teacher. Probably one of the only ones willing to go step by step teaching you. Always answers your questions no matter how they may sound. He's very kind and supportive of your success in math. You have to put in the work and study quite a lot because his exams are worth a lot. He gives out A LOT of homework. BUY THE TEXTBOOK!

Professor Quevedo is the best math instructor at SMC. He does give a lot of homework but that is good practice for the exam. Mostly those math 20 students who gave bad reviews were students who hardly attended class and would just mock the professor during class and laugh at others who asked questions. His homework is a lot but the class is easy.

I would not recommend Professor Quevedo's class to anyone! Yes, he appears to be nice, but he really isn't! His class is boring and a waste of time! He assigns lot's of hw that will not help you prepare for the test. His tests are difficult and don't reinforce the materialhe emphasized in class! Don't take this class unless you're good at math!

Honestly in the beginning of the class the teacher appeared nice and calming. However as the class progressed, the tests started to not make sense. There is a lot of homework that doesn't connect with the test. I'd rather drop out of the class and receive a W then an F.

Don't ever take this class if you're trying to go to precalc he doesn't know how to engage with his lectures, he would put you to sleep. i highly recommend you consider another professor. his class inst worth receiving a bad grade. if you're not that great at math dont take him his exams are too hard.!!!

I would not recommend this professor unless you like to spend half the class listening to him tell you how important it is to do your homework review, do your home work review, and only spend a few minuted rushing though problems. Great person, but did not like his techniques at all...I want to learn and progress, I didnt not feel that from him.

Lots of homework, and exams require lots of studying, homework review etc. Not everything he covers in class is on the exam so you'll need to put your part. Definitely a class that will expect you to prioritize over other classes. Doable but challenging. He does offer retakes if the class didn't do well but he doesn't drop your lowest score.

He doesn't give any chance to to do work in class and expects you go understand something after only talking about it for 3 minutes and usually spends 15 minutes for 1 problem and gives you 20 steps but only tells you to use 4 of those steps

Professor Quevedo is the greatest math professor on the planet. I took him for Pre-Algebra and now I'm in Algebra, and I couldn't be any happier. The way he teaches his classes, you cannot help but learn, unless you just don't pay attention or don't care. He makes learning math fun and he is very funny. He will catch you off guard with his humor.

I am currently taking his class now, and he requires a lot. He says to work on your homework but doesn't tell us what section until 3/4 days before it's due which are test dates.. our first exam was nothing like what we learned in class.. and gives 4-6 sections with at least 50 questions to do for hw. If you suck at math don't take this course!

There are daily quizzes based on daily homework. He gives opportunities to make up bad test scores depending on how the class did. His lectures are amazing and clear and he is always open to help out students outside of class.

Professor Quevedo is the greatest math teacher alive. He is a great lecturer as well has making himself accessible before and after class. He responds to emails as quickly as possible to answer any question, etc. If a student fails this class, then they should look at themselves in the mirror. There is no excuse to to get no less than a "B."

Professor Quevedo has been the BEST math professor i have ever had. It's hard to come across great math professors, and Quevedo is one of a kind. His lectures/homework/office hours helps you build your foundation in math. I have very weak skills in math and it's the most difficult subject for me. Quevedo helped me so much.

Mr. Quevedo is hands down one of the best maths professor I've had. He is very passionate about his teaching and truly cares about his students. He gives an open note quiz daily but it's a question from hw, so as long as you do your hw regularly, you'll do just fine. He gives practice questions before exam and it helps a lot too. Highly recommend!

I took professor Quevendo for Math 81 & 84 and I honestly recommend this professor to anyone. He cares for his students and would allow you to retake an exam if you failed and didn't like your score. He does give a lot of Hw but on test dates he only collects a few sections. I have learned a lot in his class and would continue to take him.

He is a very good teacher. Makes things very easy to understand and explain them well, that being said you do need to put in work to get a good grade. He is happy to help and provides you with countries study guides and preps for test. Need to put in time but a very enjoyable man and teacher. Would take again.

Not a bad teacher. He sometimes can make an easy topic very confusing. You have a quiz every day based on the lecture video from the night before. The lecture video is pretty much used to augment his teaching because he is VERY slow. He has a sound knowledge of the subject matter and doesn't make many mistakes.

His lectures are pretty clear and not hard to understand. With that said, his lectures can get a little boring if your mind is elsewhere. If you don't like mandatory group work he is perfect for you. He does sometimes in the middle of lectures talk about some random irrelevant topic like how more educated students would changed the world.
