bad professor had to take him for my major. many students complained about him because he doesn't do his own grading and if there is a mistake he takes forever to change it and you never know if he changed it or not. if u have him study from the book memorize it that where his questions come from and do not show up to his class.

This guy..... Oh man, this guy is ridiculous all around town. He doesn't take attendance, lectures go on and on and he doesn't help anyone. Homework was required for the 1st 2 weeks and were not related to what he taught us in class. There's no work due and no motivation. Terrible professor, good luck if you have him.

This man is horrible at teaching, he teaches you Programming believing you the student knows everything he says. His test are more complicated than the labs. and he has a grading system that he can't even understand. You can't even ask him for a grade evaluation because he will tell you he doesn't know the computer does it for him. makes no sense.

omg is he boring...he just lectures on and on and doesnt ask any questions or try to keep you interested. the projects he assigns have NOTHING to do with the material. if you want to pass you need to find a website to help with coding and a forum with active and helpful users. the exams are tricky and one even had a trick question. DONT TAKE HIM!!!

He is the worst teacher ever. He teaches you nothing. First off, he tries to teach you how a computer works. Second, he sits at the front and writes programs without even explaining what things do before hand. He says he's been programming forever, but he doesn't seem to know what he's doing. Unless you read the book, you'll die in this class.

John Ryon is a pitiful excuse for a teacher, one wonders how high the department was in not only hiring, but keeping this man. Furthermore, everything Ryon does is lately or unclear. If you are taking him to learn something, I have to informal you that this is just a waste of money and time.

I am very tempted to write a series of explicit comments but in the end, its not worth it. His class is deemed a necessity, but it isn't. He may be a nice guy but he takes away from the quality of the subject and his department.

Nice Guy but boring class. He is really intelligent when it comes to physics, but not so much when it comes to programming. NJIT requires a better teacher for this class. I don't think i walked away with any knowledge that could help in a job environment. Its sad NJIT has some great CS professors, this guy takes away from that. Nice guy tho.

His class was waste of time. I would take naps in between just to stay awake for the rest of the classes. He does not teach. the purpose of this class was to write really long programs. which he was successful at making us do. Make sure you do all the projects and do something extra and write extra credit so you can earn extra points.

This guy doesn?t know how to use windows, program in java, or teach at all. What's more is that he doesn?t know to wear a clean shirt or even attempt to look/act professional. The fact that he is a tenured professor at this school is what separates us from Stevens and MIT. This class is a joke. Just get through and worry about real classes.

Forces use of obsolete version of Java and crappy IDE, hand-holds you through inane projects, writes sloppy and inefficient code, doesn't know the first thing about teaching, etc. However, thanks to all this, the course is IMPOSSIBLE to fail if you have half a brain. Just bring a laptop and websurf, or sleep. The course has zero educational value.

This "professor" is the definition of obsolete, lazy incompetence. He makes the class use JDK 1.4 (current version is 6) and an outdated version of JBuilder. His lack of knowledge about the Java language leads him to constantly abuse Java principles and software design. He takes forever to grade simple assignments. Exams are a joke.

This man is useless. The class is pretty simple, but ryon does not have a mastery of java yet. His code is often convoluted uneccessarily and he forces you to used outdated (Java 1.4 and jbuilder!!) and windows only garbage. Too bad there are no alternatives as this class is mandatory and he is the only prof who teaches it (for now)

I don't remember ever staying awake. His method is to write source code in front of you for 90 minutes without properly explaining the syntax or semantics, so you learn nothing. Midterms include questions about unpopular IDE's (JBuilder); unacceptable in a 200-level class. Lacks energy, makes one wonder whether finding motivation is even worth it.
