There are 2 open book quizzes, 2 group discussions (which are rather annoying because you need to submit a group paper), 4 program assignments, and then a final exam. Everything is basically self taught online and nothing from the prof himself. Very content heavy + $140 for a mandatory access code to a site where you submit assignments + e-text

I found this professor answered my questions relatively quickly. Sometimes it took a while for grades to be transferred but I always knew what they were. Overall a really good prof

Comment:

Quizzes and final exam are very difficult if you don't read the textbook. Assignments are fairly easy if you take your time to complete them carefully. Make sure to read the rubric for the group discussions. There is a question bank online to study for the exam, and it is incredibly helpful to study from there.

It's a really easy course as long as you know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The group discussions get annoying, but it's to be expected from an online course. Don't expect help from the prof.

The professor was useless and unknowledgable about his own field. He was lazy and doesn't try to help you if there's a problem. He also takes forever to respond to emails. It took 3 weeks to fix an issue I had with Dropbox messing up my file and it was courselink support that clarified the situation not the professor. Class material is easy though.

Very unclear in regards to assignment due dates and won't respond to emails or discussion posts for weeks or not at all. The TAs were also very bad and took forever to grade assignments. Not helpful at all.

Great prof! Took CIS*1200 through DE. Definitely recommended to take this class through DE, it's really easy to keep up with the work load. Only part I had trouble with was JavaScript, I found it really difficult. Overall, great class and prof.

Extremely helpful and understanding. He will reply VERY quickly to any questions you have via email and is always ready to help you out in any way possible. Some of the projects you kind of have to figure out yourself but they arn't that hard and John will tell you anything you need ot know - all you have to do is ask!
