Comment:

This was a great class. I took the 6-9 class once a week. Usually got out early and we read about 1/2 a book a week. There were only a few papers (midterm and final plus 2 more) and most of our points were based on attendance and quizzes. Problem: doesn't have many assignments so to get A you need to read and do well on papers. Overall GOOD books!

Very good professor, lots of great information on authors and has a pretty decent selection of books for good books class. Only problem was the tests. A lot of students thought they were difficult for the reading.

Smolens is a great teacher. As long as you read the books, you will do fine. The novels we read were well known selections, nothing obscure or overly hard. Show up to class (good books), read the books, and you will get a good grade.

Smolens is an awesome teacher. He's been around the world and brings his experiences to class and makes them relevent. The books we read were enjoyable and it was easy to do well on the quizzes and tests without actually reading the books. We also got to watch alot of movies in the class. Overall great professor and I highly recommend EN110.

I needed just one more class, so I chose this one... I actually found the books to be interesting, which really surprised me. I never pick up a book and read, but this class made me want to start. He really likes class discussion, so if you have something to say, speak up!! He loves that!

I loved this class. Almost all of the books were really easy to get into. Quizzes are all multiple choice. Class discussions are fun, as long as you participate. Read the books and you shouldn't get anything lower than a B

Smolens is an excelent professor! I recomend him strongly for Good Books. He is a big supporter of discussion and is very willing to help his students if he can. He does have 2 absence limit and enforces it but his class is well worth going to!

Great class. I would reccomend this class to anyone who wants to be a better writer. Professor Smolens is very helpful, and he encourages class discussions. He has written at least five books himself, so he is a professor with experience in what he teaches.
