I was so excited to be a part of this program but I only spun 3 seasons before I quit. It is a great program, but John Sullivan is running it into the ground. He plays favorites hugely, favors one guard over another, gets incorrect information from corrupt sources and holds grudges against students unfairly. He makes decisions in a childish manner.

John Sullivan is a wonderful instructor. He can (and will) yell if need be, he has so far not yelled at me at all. I enjoy being around him, he really knows what he is talking about and im learning alot through working with him.

I agree with the most recent post. I was in guard for 6 years before John came around, and within one year he made my stress level skyrocket and made me second guess something that used to be second nature. Awful coach. I love the sport and to randomly spin but I wish I was still a part of the team, just not his team. EVER.

If you are going to come to MSU for guard, DONT! It is all politics and John makes you hate the sport that once was your life. Unless you are a huge suck up, I wouldn't join this guard. You will get nowhere.

First I have to say I'm not on guard, so my opinion probably isn't as valid as others, but John did our winterguard show in highschool, where I was on guard. I think he's a cool guy, and we always had a cool show.
