Hands down one of my favorite profs. I can't imagine taking this class from anyone else. I used to hate medieval lit., but now I love it! He's HILARIOUS and lectures were so entertaining. I learned a ton. Not too many exams, but he's kind of a tough grader. So worth it though! Do yourself a favor and take this class from him.

Professor Talbot is the funniest teacher I've had in my whole time at BYU! If you can take anything from him, I HIGHLY recommend him - I didn't think Greek and Roman literature could be so entertaining or that I'd be able to laugh so hard at Latin poetry

If I could turn back time, I would take as many classes as possible with Doctor Talbot. He is THE teacher, he is so culturally rich and teaches with so much passion that I still remember all his teachings. He is the best teacher I've ever had.

Professor Talbot is the best! He's funny, he cares about what he's teaching, and he gives you what you need to succeed in class. You definitely need to be motivated to work on your own, but it's worth it!

I loved Professor Talbot's class! 10/10 would take another class from him. He is funny and engaging in class, he cares about what he's teaching, and he gives you the tools you need to succeed. This class involves a lot of self-motivation. You do a lot of work on your own. The assignments are unique but they're not difficult. Don't miss class!

I've never met someone who talks SO MUCH. If you get on his good side, he'll love you. He LOVES English and England and poetry and makes you love it too, but he is a tough grader. Seems to want a specific thing without telling you what it is, and you don't get the good grade if you don't hit it on the mark.

Professor Talbot is awesome, he's a super funny guy. You have to write a lot in this class, and that's really all you're graded on. Lecture's are interesting, not your typical class.

My most favorite professor. He's incredibly funny, but it's unexpected, which makes it even better. Your grade is based solely on two tests, one paper, and final exam, though, so beware. If you get lost, don't worry: he walks you through the materials in his discussions. Expect gold nuggets of life wisdom too! You will not regret taking his course.

Professor Talbot has a very classical way of looking at things, which means he was very engaged in our subject material. However, he doesn't leave room for much creativity. Overall, I enjoyed his insights and found what we talked about interesting, but he was surprisingly close-minded about a lot of things.

The man is brilliant. I took copious notes every day, and I don't know that I've ever been so engaged by a professor's lectures. Exploring the Iliad and Aeneid in conjunction with Paradise Lost was phenomenal, but be prepared to read your life away if you're taking it with other English courses. I honestly wish he taught more upper-level classes.

I've had two classes from him and both were significantly more inspiring and insightful and spiritually enlightening than my religion classes during those semesters. Lots of writing, essays on tests, lots of reading, but absolutely worth it. Great sense of humor too.

I have had more insights about life and the Gospel from Dr. Talbot than from any other teacher at BYU. I LOVED his class and can't recommend it highly enough. It will change your life and the way you look at the world! He made classic lit come alive with meaning and influence. It takes a lot of work, but it is worth it!
