One of my favourite professors ever. He writes all his notes on the whiteboard in the lectures and does so at talking speed so you dont get overwhelmed, a small bit incredibly useful factor. He has TAs in class that take notes and posts them online. His exams are fairly straightforward and not tricky. The textbook is useful but I didnt use it.

The best prof I've had to date. He made such a hard course easy. No surprises on exams, just do his practice tests and make sure you understand them. He starts lectures off by speaking about life experiences and made o chem fun.

O-chem was pretty easy with him. He pretty well told you exactly what was going to be on the tests, if you payed attention in class. Had 1 midterm and a final. The midterm was 36% and the final was 39% of the final grade. No homework. Just midterm and final. Explains things well. He's great in office hours.

Worst prof ever; he chose to teach the hardest material and decided to ignore the mandatory but easy stuff.

I really appreciate that the midterms and final were very similar to the practice and he does not try to use trick questions and ask on things not discussed in lecture. Also, in lecture he is constantly reinforcing previous material and topics to drill important ideas into your brain. Great professor, would definitely recommend him for this course!

Vederas is a very enthusiastic prof which makes learning ochem a lot better. He goes over things a couple of times to make sure you understand it. His class notes are a little scattered but you can always look at the online notes. His midterms are very similar to past exams. He goes a little fast at the end so make sure to keep track of reactions.

His tests are structured exactly like his practice exams which is VERY comforting and he always spends about 5 minutes at the start class with some life facts or jokes. He was a little sporadic with the reactions and mechanisms. He taught them well, but making your own list of reactions is necessary to organize everything! Overall amazing prof!!

Vederas is a great prof - it's clear he's passionate about chemistry and is eager to help out. His tests are quite difficult though and even though they're out of a lot, there aren't really part marks given out for questions so it's really easy to lose a lot of marks. Class itself is very interesting though - don't skip!!!

John is a jokester! Really makes the class insteresting, as ochem can be a challenge and confusing. Always starts the class with a joke or a little blurb of interesting history. He always stops and makes sure no one has any questions before moving on. Made ochem not as bad as I thought it was going to be!

Amazing prof for chemistry, would love to take other courses by him if I needed to. He spends the first couple minutes giving some sort of interesting relevant facts and then does plenty of examples for each topic. I went into the class expecting it be harder than general chemistry and he makes me think the complete opposite!

Vederas is a great prof for Chem 261! His lectures are very interesting and he knows how to keep the class engaged, tells interesting stories about history of chemistry at beginning of class. Exams are fair and quite similar to the practice exams he gives, no quizzes, final and midterm only. Would take again if he was teaching 263 this winter!

Dr. Vederas is an amazing person and lecturer. He begins class with something interesting before delving into course content. He's super funny. The course itself is grueling, and sometimes he can be a bit confusing, but he'll go over it until you understand if you ask him. He does a good job at being engaging.
