Johnny Walker rocks the boat. He is frigging awesome. Too bad the English department at stuffy old UofT can't accomodate/appreciate profs who are more on the fringe. They have lost a lot of gems in the past few years and one of them was Walker. Perhaps they should stop worrying so much about books that are "canonical"...

Has the students' interests in mind, their education. Frowns upon imposed minimum failure rates, outdated books, etc. He desrves his following. I Mean, he calls Hemingway "dirty Earnie", for god's sake. Great.

Great book list. I now own Irvine Welsh's entire collection. Although ENDGAME sucked but most of the books were great. He has a tendency to be late for lectures but the lectures were funny and worth going to. Not your normal UT prof.

He was funny, unpretentious and brought something that was needed to this school. He talked about the books with you not and not at you. Lectures were rarely boring except for that horrible "Endgame" film. Definitely one of the better classes I'

I had him four years ago and he made an impression. Perhaps his all black attire with white reeboks is what made the impact. He introduced me to Nick Cave who is now one of my favourite rock stars. I mean his name is Johnny Walker...need I say more.
