Do not take a class from him. He is extremely rude and he is an unfair marker.

He knows his stuff and his lectures can be interesting, but attending them really does not matter because you only need to know about the topics you are writing your papers on. He is a hard marker, so be sure to look for his marking guide (if he doesn't post it before you go to write your paper, ask him to!).Also, group discussions are easy marks.

The way he marks essays will make you want to stay away from writting them. His critics were destructive and make you feel like a retard. I think he has to realize this is an option course with many students in different faculties. His classes were really interesting but never prepare you for the essays. His final exam essay asked for primary sourc

Humphrey is a great professor. I learned more in that class than any other so far. The only thing is that he marks ridiculously hard. Essay writing will be your end if you don't personally talk to him about what he expects. Criteria beforehand is simply not sufficient. Other than that, lectures were a joy and tests were no problem.

Learned man with a passion for the subject. If you aren't familiar with the humanities and its papers, talk to him immediately so you understand his expectations. Show interest in the material and you'll be rewarded in your mark.

Awful Professor. He wouldn't reply to e-mails in a reasonable time period. He deducts marks for students if he does not like them (and this is easy because there were three papers and two written exams). His marking is unfair (70 marks for a 14 question 10% quiz where you give one-word answers). He enforces his superiority over his students.

Knows a lot about the topic. However is a very difficult marker and going to class and reading his sourcebook is very important. Overall I learned alot, but my grade suffered because he was a tough marker in his essays and I never had time to read his sourcebook passages.

He is etremely knowledgeable about the subject...he knows pretty much everything there is to know about Greek and Roman Studies. BUT, he is a brutal and unfair marker. Obsessed with maintaining the class average and marks based on who he knows. Even though I learned a lot, I regret taking the class with him.

Great prof, knows pretty much everything there is to know on the subject and anything related. GO TO CLASS. If you go to class and pay attention the midterm will be a cinch. Since the class was at 8am, so many people skipped and bombed the midterms. My only complaint is that not enough guidelines were given for the papers, just ask him questions

Outstanding prof. Knows a ton. Entertaining class. Marks fairly, midterms not to bad but required regular class attendance (a challenge at 8 a.m.). Whoever thought he was hot though has some kind of weird complex going on. He's cute in a grandpa sort of way, but not hot.
