Comment:
I can't believe Bishop's has recycled this guy; there seems to be a serious shortage of faculty in the English department these past few years. Fortier likes to take a "philosophy lite" approach to literature, at the peril of insight; instead, lectures explore the repercussions of characters' actions. If you can, wait till they hire someone else.

Comment:
The knowledge of Dr Fortier is quite extended and especially based in the Greek and Roman classics. Any liberal student who desirs to think and learn, and not just pass a class will greatly appreciate this teacher. His geaky sense of humour gives an interesting atmosphere to the class. He is a hard marker, but eh! are we not at university?

Lacks clarity and depth. Course often devolved into superficial class discussion which went nowhere.

Comment:
Took a rather basic and muddled approach throughout the course, never going to deep in the stories. It made for a rather stressful exam at the end of the term! ("What do I put in?" Hehehe.) He was much better at teaching Gothic; that topic is within his range, whereas he wasn't as practical at teaching this "beginner"

Made a potentially great course a snoozer with his constant focus on themes that had little to do with Gothic! Unhelpful feedback on midterm. Seemingly plays favorites.

He is so awesome. So helpful and smart and FUNNY. Makes otherwise dull subjects really interesting. Did I mention he's really easy on the eyes as well?

Should teach Religion instead, as roughly 75% of his essay topics/exam questions are focused on the exploration of Christianity. Unless you pray to Jesus every night, stay far away from his classes. He does look pleasant though.
