Very bad at conveying useful information in lecture. He's hilarious and very kind but fails to make his lectures worth attending. I attended just about every one anyways. If you don't read the book and attend SI sessions, you'll be in for a bad time.

Lectures not helpful, friendly/personable to students but doesn't prepare students for exams really at all. Also no online presence which makes studying really difficult. Even the TA's don't know what he's going to put on the exams. If the exams weren't open computer they'd be next to impossible. Read the textbook.

McGowan is an engaging lecturer, but not a very good teacher. Read the textbook and you will understand the concepts he explains a lot better. Tests are open book and note and the questions are easier than the homework problems. Do the homework, it's good practice.

This professor is one of the worst I've had. You don't learn anything in class, and the homework will take forever, so start early. If you want to learn skip his class and read the book- not that the book he assigns is even helpful. good luck....

McGowan is a very nice man but his lectures are extremely confusing and useless towards learning the material that you will be tested on. The first two exams (25% ea) are not that hard but the final (40%) will be next to impossible, even though it is open book/notes/laptop. Homework takes multiple hours and is only 10% of final grade.

He just rambles on during class. Homework due once a week. 10 questions that are super long, 8 assignments. 2 exams and a final. If you want to learn, avoid his class. If not you can pass by teaching yourself, reading, and putting in effort. Your grade is mostly based on test 90%. 10% homework.

MC Gowie is the man. His lectures will boggle your mind with meaningless information and you will leave more confused than you came to every class (if you stay awake). McGowan is like a cuddly teddy bear. He told us our first exam he made so easy he wanted to cry... Hes like your grandpa but instead of war stories he tells thermo stories

McGowan has a great sense of humor and makes you laugh just about every class. Read the book! He spends so much time on useless theory that confused the whole class. Test are open book and open notes. This doesn't mean the class is easy...

Very funny guy. Went to class all the time and i don't think i learned anything useful. Im sure you could skip all the classes and read the book and youll be fine. Nice guy willing to help, did not really have office hours though.

McGOwan was aweful. AHA! His teaching style blew, and even though his class averages were 60's, he didn't scale. So therefore, AHA!! He fails 40 percent of his class! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
