Melton is pretty good. He explains things slowly and if you email him or approach him in class saying you need help on a lab report he'll spend time and walk you through it. Once you spend time with him he warms up and is very personable and friendly! I would totally recommend Melton for lab.

While I believe that Dr. Melton is an extremely nice guy, his class was horrendous. He was very nervous in front of students but always proud to show off his green laser he would use all too often in class. He did not explain things very well and often left you dumb founded when asking a question. Be prepared to get low grades on his tests.

He's a little nervous guy. He's a great teacher though and I would take him again. Very funny and easy to talk to "let's pray"

Dr. Melton is a great guy however is not the best teacher. He goes very fast through the material and talks long on some things that often seem irrelevant. He doesn't go in depth in the information often leaving me lost when doing the Mastering Chem Homework. I considerer myself to do well in chemistry however I really struggled in his class.

Dr. Melton is a genuinely nice guy who I'm sure knows his stuff but imo isn't cut out for teaching. Doesn't have a clear lecture plan and jumps around. Sometimes confuses his own problems and has his math corrected by students. The good thing is that his tests are much easier than the average chem prof's. Do the hw he assigns and you'll be fine.

It was a pretty average class. He is a pretty confusing lecturer. I would highly suggest him for a lab versus a lecture.

His way of teaching is quite boring. I slept in the class most of the time and had to go through the textbook with my peers later. However, he is willing to help if you ask. When you need anything, meet him in person; he rarely check his email.

You passed into this class, so you have to work a little hard for a good grade. Dr. Melton is great during office hours and is willing to help you if you have trouble. Sometimes, he breezes through sections that are big on the tests, so make sure that you know the notes very well. He also really likes those that participate.

Dr. Melton is a rather nervous teacher, but he's very smart and very easy to talk to if you want to use office hours. I highly recommend his classes - he explains the topic well and doesn't go on tangents like other profs. You'll love him if you pay attention in class.

While Dr. Melton is very nice he is a terrible teacher. He either includes so much extra information that you lose sight of what the problem is or he simply gives you a problem and lets you spend 40min. floundering on your own without any direction. I expected to work hard in this class, but I was not expecting to have to teach myself the material.

He's a very sweet older man who loves chemistry, but he cannot teach to save his life. If you want to take a class and teach yourself chemistry his class is the one for you... I do not recommend taking chemistry with him.

Comment:
Dr. Melton always seems to be befuddled. His lectures always start with prayer and a meaningful quote, which is nice. He is a pretty nice guy, but he isn't too good at lecturing. He will make sure you understand if you talk to him about something after class or lab. He was very flexible when I had to miss classes for a family emergency.

Super sweet guy, so adorable, but not a great prof. I am awful at chem and taking him did not help. He is very scatterbrained in his teaching and you end up teaching yourself most of the information. I am sure his test are fair if you know the info. but I really struggled with him.

He is a very smart teacher and knows what he talks about but his lectures are ridiculously boring and he is always behind the curriculum. Try not to take Melton because once he is behind, which he will be, he rushes through the second half of class and decides not to teach things that are on tests

Dr. Melton is very intelligent but is also very quiet and shy, which makes it rather hard to pay attention in a morning class. However, his notes are very thorough and his exams are not that bad as long as you have worked out some of the homework problems.

Although Melton is kind hearted and nice, he skips teaching the basics and expects everyone to have quite a bit of chemistry knowledge prior to coming to the class. Not good. Made his lectures somewhat hard to understand. The final in this class will screw your GPA.

Dr. Melton is helpful, super smart, and pretty easy-going as far as grading. He accepts things late and posts answers, so you can always get full points. I really hate chemistry, but it was a good experience with Dr. Melton. He is lefty, not super clear, and kinda strange, but also a loving guy. It's a hard class in general, but I'd recommend Dr. M

Is rather incomprehensible. He's alright, and is helpful sometimes, but is very boring, and doesn't make much sense in class. I learned most of the material from the textbook.

If you have to take chem, I think you should take Melton. His labs are really easy, and home work is an automatic A if you do it and get the answers right (he posts them.) He will explain things if you have questions and he is a nice guy.
