Comment:

Participation matters, but he's good at engaging the class. Not a lot conversing in Spanish in this class, but what you do learn improves your accent a whole lot. Homework and tests are pretty straightforward, and the fairly easy weekly quizzes help your grade if you even sort of study for them. One group project, but it's not bad at all.

Great professor. He was able to keep my attention at 8 am, clearly explains grammar and what you will be tested on. pretty easy, very nice person and understanding. If I were to continue spanish I would absolutely take another class with him

He knows his stuff AND how to explain himself. Great guy. Would move through PowerPoints a little fast, but it was always clear what we did and didn't need to know. He's easy to listen to, but smart enough not to lecture all the time.

Great professor. I would take another class from him any day. Also very entertaining - which was good because it was at 8am in the summer. Expect (easy) homework every night, quizzes and tests on line, and a lot of memorization.

AMAZING Prof. Really nice and very helpful. Does interesting work in the Williamsburg Latino community. Makes class fun; assignments and activities are creatively designed. Does not return papers that quickly and can be a bit disorganized. I would take ANY class he taught

I really enjoyed the class. Arries teaches a lot of random material that will help make you more fluent. We covered all the major grammar bases, and class was really fun. The quizzes are kind of tricky; it's hard to study enough for them. Not too tough on the papers, and very helpful.

professor arries is wonderful! he is always prepared and is ready to make class fun and engaging. although the drills are repetitive, he knows what works and what doesn't. i would recommend him and this class to anyone who wants to improve their spanish dramatically. only a little studying required

Arries rocked intro Spanish. He's a great teacher and very entertaining. I don't know what everyone's complaining about, he seemed organized enough to me. Easy grader, but I'm not complaining. I LOVE this man.

arries is a really good guy, he's got his heart in the right place. he's so intent on not preaching to you that it's hard to pick up on what he wants. definitely recommend him, though.
