All you have to do is show up. there is one presentation you have to give and a few out of class activities to attend. Pepe is funny and he does not tolerate cell phones in class.

Extremely hilarious. Never a dull moment. Not many assignments and doesn't use blackboard so you never really know what your grade is or what you're even being graded on. Not really any assignments and only two "tests". Most interesting professor I've had. Loved him.

Pepe does a good job teaching grammar. He expects you to put forth an effort and read the assigned material before class. You will be called on every class period. He is very funny and laid back. Very easy to get along with. This is not any easy class for native speakers or people learning it as second language. PUT FORTH EFFORT! Tests are not easy

I took Pepe for Latino Cultures class and while he is a little out there it was an interesting class to take. You will need to read a short reading before every class period to know what is going on. Overall easy class to take and we only had two tests.

Pepe is very laid-back and easy going. Not a whole lot of structure to this class. There are occasional quizzes you go through as a class, but none are even counted as a grade. He talks a lot about his own experiences and stories. Definitely a funny guy, and definitely an easy A. Be prepared to be put on the spot randomly though.

Pepe expects you to read ahead in the textbook to be prepared for the next class, and then will call on you to answer questions about the reading. He goes over main points in class but expects you to read and study every night to keep up. His tests aren't hard, they are the tests the textbook provides. I plan to take him for SPA 102 next semester.

I had Pepe this semester for Hispanic Culture and Civilizations and the way he set it up this semester is very different than he plans to in the future. There was not a whole lot of structure this semester but his stories were very inspiring and allowed me to gain a lot in the class. His class next semester should be a blast!

He's a nice person and interesting but I make straight As in college and will be lucky to pass this class with a C. And nothing we do in class and no amount of studying outside of class will help you on his exams. If you haven't had a lot of Spanish in high school or are fluent, I can't recommend him to a new learner.

His Spanish was very hard to get used to, and very hard to understand. The book taught more than he did, and if you didn't read the book, you would have NO CLUE what he was talking about. He DOES call on you and will make you look dumb if you don't know or don't understand. It was also hard to prepare for his tests.

He's incredibly funny with an odd sense of humor. I liked him very much as a professor, and he's very laid back! The tests are quite interesting, as they mostly don't pertain to anything. But he really opened my eyes to the Hispanic Culture, and I have a better respect and interest in it now.

If your goal in taking Spanish is to barely pass the class, Pepe will do just fine. If your goal is to make a decent grade in the Spanish class to boost your GPA, look elsewhere. You don't learn much, and are never not prepared for his exams. My recommendation is to avoid him unless you know Spanish prior to taking the class.

Pepe takes some getting use to. He doesn't really understand what's appropriate in class, but he doesn't mean anything if he says something strange. He's a good professor, he just expects you to read the book and know what we're discussing before you come into class. At first I had a VERY hard time understanding his Spanish. Once I got used to it, I realized that Pepe is very, very nice and pretty funny. He is a little on the odd side, but I think that makes his class interesting. I would definitely take him again!

My Gosh! Pepe is a very nice guy indeed, but he is quite an odd professor. The class itself is rather dull and boring and have to listen to his life stories nearly. You would think you'd be able to follow along but he goes off tangents WAY too much and rambles on for HOURS at a time! If you want to learn something, its up to you to teach urself

Pepe made class fun and even though I did not know anything about Hispanic Culture before I took this class I felt that I learned a lot and followed along. Class was fun and everyone got to know one another. You get called on a lot and that is your participation points. Be prepared to answer questions, even if you dont know the answer.

This class was an easy A. There were reading assignments before class but they're always short. All tests were take home tests. Didn't really take attendance. Pepe can be weird sometimes but he's a good person.
