Comment:

If you take him for Greek he's very tough and strict. Took him for a survey class and was much more laid back. Tests are quite hard, need to study and read thoroughly. If you don't like lecture heavy professors don't recommend. If you're fine with it, he's very caring and extremely knowledgeable.

Comment:

Matos has incredible understanding of his topics. His lectures can get dry but if you listen or ask questions, hes got great answers for you. Read the assigned chapters: some test material comes from the reading. He gives simple review sheets for the tests.

Dr. Matos is by far my favorite professor in four years of college. His class is no blowoff, and I hope if youre taking an upper level religion class a blowoff isnt something youre looking for. Put in the work and show him that you care through your actions and youll do just fine.

Comment:

The class is very lecture heavy, it is his only teaching method. He is very soft spoken so if you are hard of hearing, be sure to sit up close. There are about 4 exams and one essay. In the beginning of the semester, there will be a lot of reading. He is a really nice professor. Just don't take him if you easily get distracted or bored.

Comment:

Major Prophets summer class. He is one of the most knowledgeable professors Ive encountered. Went out of his way to be an advocate for us. He adjusted assignments & due dates to help us. He changed the 3 exams to easy reading guides and we only had 1 paper (10-12 pgs). Would definitely take his class again and highly recommend him to others.

Dr. Matos is such an amazing person and he know's what he's talking about when it comes to this course. Some of the session assignments were not clear and it confused me especially at the beginning but none of the work is super hard and he is there for you if you need help. Lectures are very boring.

This guy is absolutely the most boring speaker I've ever encountered in my life. His lectures are super monotone. Students can NOT stay awake in his class. Disrespectful! An adult student asked him to write out two terms on the board and he refused. Test are ridiculous.

Best professor Ive ever taken He is all about helping his students to succeed in what they do. His classes are tough but more than fair. He is extremely knowledgeable in all of his subjects. I am truly sorry I have to graduate and wont be in his classes anymore

Had him for Old Testament. LOVED IT! Super easy! 2 tests, one short essay, one quiz. Thats it! And he checks that you took notes all semester. Follows guidebook EXACTLY and test is nothing but the bold type questions in the guidebook. Best of all..he is SO knowledgeable. He's not very exciting but he's nice and knows his stuff and teaches it well!

I had Dr. Matos for Comparative Religion. He was excellent! He is extremely knowledgeable of other world religions. His exams were not particularly hard, but he does expect a lot from your term papers. Notice I said papers - we had to write two papers at the end of the semester. I would take another class from Dr. Matos without hesitation.

I have never had a professor who knows so much about what he is teaching. I was so impressed, he knew every religion so well that he could debate you on them all from THEIR standpoint. He was so interesting and one of the kindest profs I've ever met.
