This class is basically show up and watch a jazz documentary. Parillo is an awesome guy and cares so much about music but I took the class at 8am. Big mistake. I never fall asleep in class, and I dozed off a few times. His quizzes are mad easy though so I'd recommend this class. It's an easy A if you show up 90% of the time.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I have yet to meet a person with a different opinion. Probably because this person could never exist. Joe is a wonderful, thoughtful, caring professor (and human being!). His enthusiasm is contagious- he is completely approachable, so fair, and a total laugh! Did I mention he is jazzy? This man will improve your life.

I had him for the Colloquium: Songs of Social Justice. He is the best professor I have ever had. He is so approachable and helps you out if you need it. He is very fair at grading and really takes the time to get to know you as a person. I highly recommend any class with him.

This class consisted of listening to various musical/jazz selections & talking about it. Quiz & exams weren't too bad, but he scaled it anyways. He gave a lot of extra credit so you'd have to be a complete idiot or moron to not do well in this class. Joe Parillo is a fair and easy going guy so just go to class & you should be fine.

Incredible class. I thought we would learn about the history of Jazz through books and slides, but it's much different. He actually plays music, whether through piano or stereo and we learn alot. If you are going to take tis class, you really need this specific teacher.
