Joy is a very respectful and inspiring professor. She makes a concerted effort to make relevant and up to date material available to us. Participation in her class is easy - she gives lots of opportunities to share thoughts with little pressure. The assignments require readings, but that's part of school!

Well certainly did not bring much 'joy' to this class. None of the assignments were clear at all and when she tries to explain, complicates things more. Also, assignments are worth way too much and her class was a waste of time on Monday morning. Was told to write on behalf of my section.

Worst Professor ever! I have no idea how she is on the Sunshine list! She won't even return emails. Didn't get my grade for my fall term until now-Its March now and my class ended in Dec. Avoid at all costs. You will learn nothing. Absolutely nothing.

She is a very nice woman but unfortunately not a great professor. Extremely dry material and delivery. Assignments were not graded in a timely manner. Doesn't respond to e-mails. She is a nice woman though, and can be understanding and accommodating. But Do not recommend.

This class is so easy! If you want an A, take it with her. Although if you suck at writing, you will get a poor grade. Just the facts. This is a philosophical course so it may come across as boring, but its not her fault. Great professor who will answer your questions.

Not a very good prof.! I honestly did not learn one thing from this class. She tries to implement different teaching strategy to show us contemporary teaching styles but just ends up confusing us more. It's ironic that she can't teach yet she's teaching us to be educators. very easy marker though, so take her class if you don't mind not learning.

ugh. education prof who actually put down educators. Even had lots of us questioning wanting to be a teacher at one point. Picks on students to answer but then puts down our answer. DON'T MAKE US ANSWER if you don't like it! Course expectations were incredibly unclear; get peoples' numbers...they'll be your only hope.

This woman and I had MAJOR differences in our political views, though we had several nice conversations and came away with deep respect for each other. Stayed in touch with her for a while from Israel, should get back in touch with her. Different style of teacher, didnt always like the way she conducted her classes, though did learn lots. thanks!

Joy is a fantastic teacher. She makes you think and learn and go beyond what you brought to the class. She is also extremely helpful outside of class and answers every email and request with insight and support. She is also honest about her views, something some profs shy away from to appear neutral or to keep students placated!

Having a background in sociology is an asset as this is the experience she brings to teaching this course. For some her teaching will require "thinking outside the box" for others her course is a pleasure. Very approachable and is concerned about student's doing well in the course.

I really enjoy Prof. Mannette's classes. She is really "out there" testing the limits - pushing us to think outside of superficial ways. For some I think this style will be conflicting - for others truly rewarding. A good, fun Prof.
