Joy is great in lectures and although this is a very hard class and assignments were very difficult her tests are fair. She does not expect the same difficulty on tests as on assignments and if you know the concepts behind everything you can pass the tests easily. She is also very good for out of class help.

Joy is a nice enough person and very helpful during office hours but essentially all of her lectures in 3400 consisted of her rewriting proofs/examples/definitions verbatim from the textbook onto the board. Her final exam review document was 23 pages of theories/definitions. I'm not sure what my tuition paid for here.

Joy makes herself available as much as she is able. She provided additional tutorials. She gives practice exams and list of material needed for the exam. I would definitely take a class from her again. The work load is very reasonable.

Genuine, humble and and an intellect to match that booty (she has a nice butt haha). Gives really good feedback! If you make a mistake she'll take the time to follow your logic and see exactly where you misstepped, never had such a devoted prof!

Simply the best prof at the U of L. She teaches the more abstract and difficult classes for sure, if you've a good handle on algebra and comfortable with proofs you couldn't ask for a better prof. If you're not, and it's a 3000+ level, that's your own fault. Seriously, if you didn't do well with her then you would have bombed with anyone else.

Her assignments are a little difficult and there is a lot material to remember, but Joy is very helpful. She offers tutorials every week to help with assignments. She explains everything very clearly in class and her notes are pretty easy to follow. Overall I thought she was a great prof.

Worst class I have taken yet. She moves through the material very fast and expects you to remember everything from math 2000 without explaining it again. I would avoid taking this class unless you had a very good grasp on materials from math 2000. Even then, I would not recommend it!

Not approachable, not knowledgeable, and not a good professor. She is rigid in her thinking style and leaves little room for creative mathematics. She seems to be unable to adapt her class to the ways others learn and she expects carbon copies of her proofs. If you like inflexible, concrete thinkers then she's the prof for you.

While Joy is a brilliant mathematician she is a terrible professor. She has no grasp of how to teach university level math. She is close minded and doen't accept mathematically correct answers unless they are perfect carbon copies of her own. Forget everything you know about math and just copy everything down and learn her format or you will fail.

She once told the class what she will be teaching on friday. Normal right? Except when someone put up their hand and told her he read the assignment, all the material she mentioned about teaching on friday would be due earlier friday morning. She would teach the concepts on the assignment after the assignment is due. Class average on midterm 58.

She's not the best prof, nor the worst (by far). The course itself is challenging and sometimes she can be a little unclear with the terminology and definitions she uses. Makes sure you go to tutorial and do your work and ask questions. Things should go well...
