Midterms are harder than what he teaches in class, explains things very quickly once and excpects you to know it in more detail. Make sure you know every detail in the textbook because he will put random things on the midterms. Would recommend a different Spanish professor...

Dr. Martinez was very interested in his course. He was a little hard to understand at first with his accent but you quickly get used to it. The topics he chose were very interesting which I felt helped keep the class' marks up.

Such an inspiring professor once you reach the 3rd year level! Amazing books: historical, social and political contexts were discussed by this encyclopedia-man. He always pushes you to explore free essay topics (REAL learning). Don't be intimidated, but be prepared to work. FAVOURITE prof ever! TAKE A COURSE WITH HIM AND BE FOREVER CHANGED!

Juan Carlos is the best professor I have ever had, hands down. He is inspiring, brilliant, and genuine. He seems intimidating and "stern" at first because frankly I think he's a bit shy. But if you don't take the time to get to know this man and take his classes, you're the one missing out! Those who can't appreciate him? Get out and make room for

I don't really understand where the previous comments justify their positions.. you can have a savy and inspiring prof who isn't as friendly as a stone and full of themselves.. try a language class at a different uni perhaps..

Juan Carlos is a prof who inspires, 1st, a gut fear and eventually, irrational devotion. I love love love this man, he is ridiculously smart, we joke that there is nothing he doesn't know about. He has this aura, that is intimidating at first, but you sit in a class with him and he can make the whole class laugh madly, and you see through him. GOLD

Knows soooo much but only gives you a peek at it all. He's intimidating but really worth getting to know outside the classroom.

Funny man. Interesting style of teaching - class is generally making up sentences in Spanish - tests can be difficult
