Lectures are super useful and she explains everything in amazing detail and helps you understand it all. If you don't pay attention and don't take notes you won't do well. Always (even right before midnight deadlines) accessible by email, and always willing to help you. Test content is always made very clear, and explained in detail in lectures.

Professor Etchison was by far the W O R S T professor I've ever had in the engineering school. Unless you did super well in Java and have an extensive background in computer science, she goes way too quickly to understand anything. She's also just flat out condescending and rude if she thinks you're not catching on to things. Def DON'T recommend.

Professor Etchison is the perfect person to teach C++. Everything is explained in detail, and she's always available by email (even for the midnight deadlines). The quizzes aren't hard if you took notes and paid attention in class.

Professor Etchison is the best computer science professor I could have hoped for coming into my first semester. Not only did she make learning C++ easy and enjoyable, she is always accessible to students through office hours and email, even on short notice. She has inspired me to continue learning computer science even though it isn't my major.

I took her for CSE 1341. I really enjoyed the class. Assignments were spelled out easily. In my opinion you have to try to fail this class. If you do all the assignments and turn them in on time you won't have any issues. Professor Etchison is amazing with replying to emails instantly. Anything above a 90 is a solid A.

Took C++ this past semester and had a great experience. Pay attention in class, do your assignments on time and you will do well in the course and be well prepared for future courses. The material is interesting with labs and programs that ensure you have full understanding. She encourages questions in class so make sure to raise your hand.

She is a great professor who clearly presents the material in class and is always encouraging questions. While attendance isn't mandatory she makes it clear that your attendance is typically directly correlated to your grade because her lectures cover more test material than the readings (I went to nearly every class). Start you programs early.

Both in class and during office hours, Professor Etchison is helpful, enthusiastic, and patient. Tests are open book and correlate directly to reviews, weekly homeworks, and programs. Lab quizzes provide more than enough time and come with lab aid to help ya out. Programs are time consuming but doable. Overall, a caring and competent professor.

Professor Etchison is always willing to help you and clarify any questions you may have, especially when debugging code. The open book policy is nice, but you should only use it to double check your answers; don't get too caught up looking up answers in the textbook.

Her test policy is open book because "in the real world, if you don't know something, you can look it up". Having said that, doing well in the class still boils down to how well you understand the general principles of CS (since the syntax you can look up). Do the homework even though it's worth like 1% each, it helps. And speak up if you're lost

Very clear lectures and always wiling to help. The class wasn't hard for me all all but may prove challenging to some people. Test were very easy plus she lets you your book during it which can be a life saver. Responds to emails quickly and will at times give out extra credit for her exams.

I took her C++ class, I found that she presented the material rather well. In addition, she goes out of her way to ensure that you understand all concepts at a high level. Tests are about average difficulty, know what you're doing and you'll do fine. Fantastic professor and wonderful person, I highly recommend her.

A decent teacher. Very friendly & fairly helpful. She answers her emails very promptly. Tests are not too hard if you study & HW is always easy. Still, she does not present the material extremely well, and she uses weird, abstract examples. Sometimes it gets confusing. She's a LOT better than some of the CSE teachers! I'd recommend her.

I took this class Spring of 2008. She is a nice lady but the class sucks. The labs arent hard but the class sucks. Tests are VERY hard. I had to take this for my major, I would NOT RECOMMEND this class for anyone unless they have a good amount of programming knowledge beforehand. She is nice, but its a hard class. Dont get fooled like many of us di

She's definitely a ****!!! She doesn't respond to her emails properly and her grading is not fair! She won't curve the grade and if you are her favorite student, she'll pass you if not she'll do anything to fail you! I didn't really find her helpful.

Prof. Etchison does not present the material well. I took a java course in high school and aced it, but when I attended her class it just confused me. Many non computer savy people tend to struggle in this class. She may not be good at presenting the material, but she is always offering review sessions and is always available for questions.

Super nice teacher and woman. The class itself is boring, but very basic and slow-paced. If you already know java, try to not take this class. You could teach yourself on the internet what she's covering in this class.

She's definitely a nice teacher. Although her class is boring sometimes, her class is slow-paced. But the lab hwk is sort of hard, and you have to be really careful to prepare for your exam. You can get many bonus after every exam. I like her- A helpful teacher.

she is a completely unfair teacher. take kahn! they gave the same test and when they found out about mistakes and stuff, judy didnt do anything while kahn gave his class at least 20 extra points! ridiculous. she seems nice but her lectures are so pointless, yet you HAVE to go because she gives pop quizzes. tests are impossible.

I hoped to learn some advanced stuff from this class but she taught all that I already knew. Her teaching style is really boring. She just pulls out code from the textbook and goes over it so slow as if she were teaching JAVA for dummies. There's nothing to learn from the class that you can't learn from the JAVA Tutorials.
