Comment:

Textbook isn't required but it did help to understand a few things. Judy hands out many worksheets with practice questions, not graded, but if you do them you will do good on the tests. They are very similar to the test questions. She does take a bit to mark tests but she gives good feedback. Helpful in office hours.

Talks super quite so if not at the front of the class good luck hearing her. Slowest grader ever, took one whole month to get the first test back. Makes course content more confusing than it needs to be, also very bad at answering questions you end up more confused.

Very hard to hear what she's saying because she's so quiet. I'm sure she's smart, but she doesn't teach well at all and I spent so much time confused as to what was happening because of her unclear explanations. If any other choice is available, do not take this course with Judy Palm. Unless you love algebra.

A lot of people don't like her, but I really enjoy taking class with Judy. Do your homework, make sure you fully understand the worksheets/textbook questions before the test, because her tests are extremely similar to the questions she assigns. She's a little old fashioned with her teaching methods, but if you actually pay attention she is a great

Great for finance 130. She goes through questions step by step and is very clear. Questions on the midterm are the same questions covered in class but with different numbers so skip class and you will do poorly. Textbook is very confusing, poorly written and you don't need it. Judy is a great prof but sometimes hard to hear her.

Judy is a very smart individual, but a terrible professor. I sit in her class not understanding anything she says, and go home to pretty much teach everything to myself only to realize that she makes the course a lot more difficult than it really is. As mentioned in other comments, she teaches old fashioned methods in an old fashioned way.

Judy does not use any technology in her class, and reads everything aloud so it can be hard to follow. She is a sweet lady, very quiet, and does explain things thoroughly. She gives lots of hard worksheets so you are prepared for the test (tests are easier than whats on the worksheets and they are very short)

Judy has got to be nearly 1000, she teaches the old methods which aren't relevant in today's world. She's very easily distracted and quiet as a mouse. She commands very little respect and it shows from student attitudes. Avoid if possible.

Highly recommend taking her class. she hands out questions for homework and go over some of them for exam. It seems that she teaches to memorize not learn in class, but she is very helpful to understand formulas when I ask within office hours and through email.

Disorganized, avoids technology ie. D2L like the plague, and responds to questions with attitude. Cute lady, too smart to teach what she teaches. Tests were unnecessarily hard. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Easiest class I have ever taken in my life. Judy is super nice, and her lecture notes are awesome! I never opened the textbook once, nor did I do any of the assigned homework. Still got an A. Easy exams too. 10/10, would take Judy's class again. Extremely boring though.

Judy is one of the best teachers at VIU. As long as you put in a little bit of work then an A is easily attainable. She can be disorganized at times but she always finds a way to make the material clear. Tests are not set up so you fail.

Judy teaches to memorize not learn. She may be okay for other classes but she has managed to make a class that shouldn't be to difficult to be completely confusing. I will leave this class with leas than I went in with. What a waste of my money and time.

While Judy is a nice lady, in my opinion she is a terrible teacher. In my four years at VIU I have only had one professor worst than her. She is completely useless when it comes to answering questions in class. Very unorganized, always late to class. If you are good with economics than you should be fine but if you struggle at all STAY AWAY!

She is one of the best, most clear teachers I have ever had. Sure she can be a bit boring at times but then again all teachers can. If you study what she provides as notes and homework then an A+ is easily attainable even if you are a regular 'C' student.
