Amazing knowledge of the subject matter. Has high expectations and is a hard, but fair, marker. Those that are not prepared to work should avoid her classes. Know that I earned the mark I received in her class.

Dr. Torrie is a very kind and caring woman. It is clear that she eats, sleeps and breathes history. However, she is a very tough marker. I wasn't able to get anything above a B+. Other than that, her classes are interesting and worth taking.

Julie Torrie goes on and on about her own personal interest of German history. She uses the Tosh text book like crazy and expects us to read between the lines. The assignments are not hard, but she marks super hard. You need a really good grasp on history to even have a say in the conversation with her. She basically does not accept your opinion

At the beginning i thought torrie was the spawn of satan but over timed i came to realize that she is simply pushing us to be the best we can be. Torrie is an amazing, knowledgeable prof who one can learn a lot from. However, don't take her courses unless you like history :)

Expects perfection, we're stu students not harvard students. Brutal marker, will absolutely rip anything you do apart. Pretty much the only way to pass the course with a decent mark is if you lived through the world wars.

Julia Torrie is is not that clear with her lessons and she expects perfection. She is a historian and a harvard grade and I don't think she realizes that we are just students at stu no less. She doesn't explain things that well and you pretty much have to teach yourself. Also very critical, not at all constructive.

Extremely clear, I've learned alot from her class, one of my favourite profs. However, her tests are kinda hard and you really have to read ALL of your notes and remember them all to get a good grade. I would still recommend her though!

Dr. Torrie is inarguably the best history professor at STU. However she is an incredibly hard marker and I had to work my ass off for a B+. The lowest history grade I've ever received at STU, I would highly recommend her as long as you do the work.

Dr. Torrie is an awesome, understanding prof and amazingly she is also a human being. She does come off as slightly severe sometimes, but she has to because she's practically the same age as her students! I would recommend her classes highly, lectures are awesome, assignments are challenging, but doable and the exams are fair. Thanks Dr Torrie!!

Terribly unorganized - forces you to spend half your time looking for readings online -A hard marker who basically uses every excuse to keep you from getting an A despite the fact that the material isn't all that tough. If you take it, this course will be a constant thorn in your side!

Extremley organized and intelligent. However, she is a very hard marker and often expects far to much of her students. I am normally an A - A+ student but I had to fight for an A- in her class.

I don't have much of an interest in history, but i thought that she made it even more boring then some other people i've had...and thats a lot! WHATEVER u do, ALWAYS call her Dr. or Proffessor! Idid that mistake and she almost mademe cry!
