I found him very intimidating and difficult to talk to. If you are at all uncomforatble with french hes not the prof for you. However his in class presentations were a good idea and he did his best to make sure you didn't feel too nervous about them.

if I wanted to teach myself French, i wouldn't pay for a class at university. Since I am paying for a class I expect to be taught. Instead of just telling us to do self-instructional stuff, he should actually teach us French.
