Comment:

She is the worst, most uninspiring professor I've ever had. Although her class lectures are informative, she expects far too much for entry level courses. I feel as though if she invited more participation in class, such as bringing up topics for debate (instead of only giving her opinion) students would like her more.

absolute nightmare. I changed my major to avoid having her again, take Justin or Michael instead. Karen purposely instructed the class to evaluate her course incorrectly so she wouldn't get kick back from her department. She is disrespectful at best and a stuck up snooty lady who wishes she was half as decent a prof as her husband.

This was the most boring class I have ever had to sit through. She assigns a lot of at-home work, and very rude when you ask questions regarding the work. The chapters she assigns are very long. She is clearly very knowledgable and passionate about the topic, but if you aren't an art major then this class will not be enjoyable, and not worth it.

She's completely horrible. She doesn't return emails, and when she messes up, she blames the student. She's mean and disregards the student's opinions completely. She's extremely sassy in a bad way and doesn't let you speak up.

Pretty much a terrible professor. I love art and art history, and Karen is clearly SUPER knowledgeable about what she's teaching but she has no idea how to teach it. She is extremely picky with grades and will take points off for random things. Her lectures are pretty monotone and she can get testy, but if you try she'll like you. Just do the work.

I attend all classes & read req's assign. She gives a high handed, monotone lecture giving too much info. Goes off track on rants but U have no idea if you take notes or just listen. Incredibly knowledgeable, but confusing in assign & lecture. Nice but a poor teacher. U can engage with her, but it doesn't help the learning process. Stay away!

Is so opaque about assignment due dates and genre to study on test. Tests are based upon verbal comments in her opinion of pictures. Cool right? Dont take this proffessor, stay clear. Ruined my GPA from this class and worked my butt off in it.

Worst teacher I've ever had. I've been to every lecture and genuinely try to pay attention but her monotone voice and failure to stress any particular content makes it impossible to take good notes. Everybody failed our first test. Even if you ask specific questions she will give you attitude and frequently "calls out" the entire class.

UMaine doesn't realize what they have. Linehan knows her stuff and packs her classes with content. She also offers interesting course topics. My advice is to talk to her if you are having a tough time: she's a sweet lady and is willing to help, but you have to show effort. I will admit, she is quick to judge, but honestly - so are students.

She is a very nice person, passionate, thoughtful, generous. But her lecture are totally boring, and her has very poor teaching skills, vaguest on what you are going to learn the class are unclarify. Anyway, as I know people who passed in her class are arts majors. Not suggest other majors student take this course just for fill requirement.

I thought a 100 level class would be easy as a senior. I thought wrong. Until I took this class I disagreed with everything ISIS does. Now when ISIS destroys art I understand why and I know that they do some good- not that it makes up for the terrorism.

When asked for clarification: vague. When asked ques. in class: is visibly irritated. Focuses on Maine art and artists as a topic (in American Art). When asked for feedback on a paper, research, or homework, she is vague, confusing. Long-winded and boring. Often talking about herself, her family - their academic and career successes. Here's the thing. Karen is super nice and clearly passionate about what she's doing. However, I simply cannot learn from her. Her lectures are really more just rambles. She will go on tangents about a piece and give you tons of information that are irrelevant to what she will test you on.

Prof. Linehan is passionate about art history and a very generous teacher. Just go to class. Don't assume that art history is an "easy A" and you'll be fine. The negative comments on here are idiotic. Written by people who can't be bothered to go to lectures and think college is like high school. (Of course you should fail if you miss 6 classes!)

One of the worst profs. I've had. Doesn't seem to understand art at all so I have no idea why she's in that field. Obsessed with surface details rather than the big picture...memorizing exact dates or what museum a specific piece is in doesn't teach you anything about art or its history.

Honestly the worst professor I have ever had so far, actually the worst teacher I have ever had in education. She is unclear, disorganized, and just does not know how to teach. If you try to talk to her, and explain your view she gives attitude I took the class because I love art, but I hate the class because of her poor teaching skills.
