Super Boring. Ridiculous amount of readings and its 3 hours of him talking only, the reason I come is because of participation marks. Expect alot of work in this class,, if you can avoid it do NOT take a class of his.

Would really benefit from the use of lecture slides or more visual materials. He talks for three hours straight, following the theme of the textbook. It can be painfully dull. This course is entitled 'Media and Conflict,' but it feels it should be entitled 'Muslims and Conflict.'

He's a nice man and very intelligent, however I wouldnt take another class of his. He makes participation count towards your grade but doesn't initiate class discussions, he doesn't use any visuals (slides, videos, images) - he just talks the whole 3 hours, and the whole course is challenging the textbook. Disappointed. I wanted to like this class

Jumps around in the lectures.. never gives his own opinions on the book.. literally regurgitates material directly from the textbook... his midterm was ridiculous, not enough time for what he wanted us to do, and we would have had more time to do it in class. Doesn't keep my attention at all.. definitely only taking a class of his once.

Smart guy, knows his material, well read and a good scholar. but, I found him too sensitive towards the Islamic world, ie always required precise references when a negative claim was made about the middle eastern regimes but didn't care if the same or worse negative claims were made about Europe or north America. i hope it's not my own bias gettin

Taught 2nd half, where Attalah left off. Paled in comparison, sure he knows his stuff, but he's a boring lecturer. Careful, he's a smart guy, a lot of government grants and he is the man writing the policies for new media in Canada. In 3rd & 4th yr classes he's much better and a wealth of information. Stay awake and learn!

Professor Karim has inspired me to change my way of thinking, and look at things through a new perspective. Islamic Peril should be a mandatory read for all those claiming to be journalists! The most educational read EVER
