Comment:

Last named google but worked for the IBM, the man really knows the industry well. Covers a lot in lectures and students are even willing to stay overtime for them. Be ready to spend a whole day working on prelab every week because this is what EE is about. Exams and the Final (which is a quiz) have average around 65-70. Total Grade curved by *1.08

Had 3701. I love Gugel's lecture style. He really respects your participation, and this is reflected in how attendance isn't required. If you hate lectures, I still recommend going just for the lols. Lab is very difficult, but fortunately, he gives the solution during lecture. Buy male to male "DuPont jumper cables"; it'll make lab a lot easier.

Comment:

He's a condescending lecturer, constantly making fun of students who don't understand new concepts. It could be funny to some, but I just found it obnoxious. Tests and labs were doable, but the labs took an almost unbelivable amount of time considering all nine amount to only 26% of your grade, while one test alone is 28%.

The best Lecturer I have ever had. Seriously this class was hard but it was my favorite EE class because of Gugel. He is extremely helpful during office hours and his lectures are a lot of fun to go to.

Great professor, he really takes the time to explain every topic so that everyone who is paying attention can understand it. Labs need to be finished before lab period, and depending on your familiarity with electronics could take between 3-10 hours per week. He's entertaining and you never feel like class is a chore.

I'm a disabled student and any other professor would have been annoyed with all of the accommodations that I needed to get through this class - not Dr. Gugel. He helped me all throughout the semester and was very kind about it. I started the class thinking, "There is NO way I'll be able to do this." But, I ended up doing very well in the class.

Take Gugel for Digital Logic instead of Schwartz, he lets you use all your notes and his past exams on tests, which saved my life. Lab takes about 8-10 hours to do per week plus the 3 hour lab period. Never used the book except for homework. Write down ALL the examples he does in class. Overall, my favorite professor in ECE.

All info is from lecture. Do not need book, HW is posted. Funny guy. Enjoy his personality. Class is over 15hrs a week of only lab. Not to mention HW and study and lecture. You learn a lot, but his tests are the hardest I have ever had. Had him before and really enjoyed for EEL3701 so I purposely took his class.

Dr. Gugel has his own business making $$ using the material he is teaching you in class. He is teaching for the Health benies, and to recruit interns for his business. That said, he seriously knows his stuff. Pay attention and work hard, this class is what u need 4 digital EE and he's a great prof to teach it.

Extremely difficult labs and tests. Find some friends and start the lab early. Print out all documentation. He gives lots of hints for the lab, but you still need to learn to read data sheets. Not very helpful during office hours. Completely doable class. Used TI F28335 DSP development board.

Labs were pretty time consuming. They weren't very hard if you did them right... the first time. I could spend 6 hours or 60 hours on the labs depending on whether I got it right the first time. Fairly hard exams. Teaches such that you can't possibly not understand the material so the class will feel slow to some. Ended up with an A.
