Dr. Larew was an excellent professor. He gives three exams, including the final. They're 2/3 Essay, 1/3 multiple choice, true/false, and fill in the blank. There's one term paper that he grades reasonably and he's always willing to give you feedback. Didn't read the book the entire semester and managed an A-

Can barely understand the man! He talks very quietly and you will struggle to keep up with notes. The book is useless so don't bother. Make a friend in this class to share notes with and study them. The tests are hard with very specific questions on minor details.

BORING! Extremely intelligent man but talks very monotone. He really knows his military history though. It could be such an interesting course if he could liven up a little. 3 tests which aren't hard and a research paper. If you like military history and can handle being bored... then take him!

The smartest military history teacher you will ever meet. Has 3 tests, 1 term paper, and a in-class book review. Did not require us to use the textbook, his lectures were very detailed. If you are interested in military history definitely take.

Ohhh Karl Larew..he is such a nice guy. Incredibly objective even in controversial subjects. Though he's basically the smartest man alive, Im far more entertained by his manneurisms and dry wit. Love the fact that we go over the test answers right after we take them, buttt dont love the fact that the tests are so damn tricky.

A brilliant educator, eloquant/superb lecturer, good writer, and a true gentleman. Dr. Larew was a real inspiration to learn from but he has since retired after many years of teaching. Your tutilage and guidance will be missed. I wish you the best in the years to come.

Comment:

Just looking at his hair and eyebrows made me laugh, and kept me entertained in his class. Really boring and almost impossible to get an A. I studied so much, and just got a B! (Drove me crazy) I learned alot, but i suffered alot sitting through his lectures. A couple times i had to get up and leave ten minutes early because i could not stand it.

I graduated some years ago, but Larew still stands out. In my view, he was the best professor at Towson. Very helpful, extremely knowledgable. And the lectures-not being facetious-were enthralling to me. Wish I could still take courses with him.

Very knowledgeable, Professor Larew is truly an authority on his subject matter. Lectures can be dry...I think in order to get the most out of his lectures it helps to have a true interest in history. Pretty easy grader, and very helpful. If you like history, you'll appreciate him!!

Military History with him is an easy B-, B, or B+, but man is the class so dry and boring. Term paper is long and rough to do, but he is not too hard grading it. DO NOT BUY THE BOOKS, THEY ARE A WASTE OF MONEY. Tests from notes.

Larew knows A LOT of material. Suprisingly all of this information does not run together during his lectures. His night classes are tough because he can go on forever, and does. But it wasn't so bad towards the end.
