Comment:
Dr. Larsen is a very nice person, but not the best professor. She is disorganized, has unclear grading criteria, and is virtually inaccessible via email. That being said, this is a very easy UW compared to other ones. It is very easy to pass; however, it is not easy to get an A. Attendance is not mandatory as most assignments are submitted online.

Kathy Larsen encourages students to grow as writers. She guides them through the writing process with multiple drafts, peer review, and a diligently organized Blackboard page. Her small class sizes enable students to connect with her and fellow classmates. Hybrid assignments help students develop their final paper. Favorite class first semester!

This is an easy UW compared to most others. Participation is based on stuff like watching movies and writing fan fiction (LOL). 12-15 page paper isn't as intimidating as it seems, and you get to write about something you actually like. She is scatterbrained, but it's to your advantage. She does not care if you turn in work late. At all.

Nobody likes their UW class, but this is pretty much as good as you can get: you get to pick your own fandom to cover, no Friday classes, and somewhat interesting course material. While this class does require weekly writing assignments that are pretty tedious, writing your research paper won't be that boring since you're covering a show you like!

Prof Larsen's passion for fandoms is infectious, and if you're like me and really do not care about this field, its hard not to respect her and it by the conclusion of the class. The work throughout the year was easy, until you write your final paper (12-15 pages) in only 3ish weeks! The end was stressful, but this was a better UW than most others.

Really easy UW class to take. Attendance isn't mandatory and you won't get lost if you do miss class because all assignment instructions are online. She is very nice and understanding when turning in work late! really nice woman!

Dr. Larsen is a really nice person, but not a very good professor. Most hybrid assignments and class activities are a waste of time, and she's bad at responding to emails. The key to doing well in her class is to start the final paper early and go to her office hours MANY TIMES. Otherwise, you're going to be confused and stressed the whole time.

The topic is really cool but if you don't like fandoms don't take this class. The classes are not stressful but she does not give clear instructions. She doesn't grade anything until the end of the semester so you have no idea where you stand before the final paper. She is really fun but she is terrible at grading and giving consistent feedback.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE LOOKING FOR EASY UW. weekly simple online assignments and one 12-15 page final paper are your whole grade. going to class isn't mandatory but it'll help. you get to write about a tv series or music artist or movie so it's pretty interesting, too. not a lot of writing for a UW.

This was the worst class I've taken in GW. Professor Larsen is extremely unclear and everyone in the class took what she said in a complete different way. She knows a lot about the topic, but overall this class is boring as hell. I would not recommend her as a professor at all. She is also a tough grader and gives the same grade for everything.

What Larsen decides to teach you is entirely irrelevant to how you end up writing the final, 15 page paper. She doesn't allow you start writing the paper until three weeks before it's due, and she doesn't grade anything until the last day of the semester, and by then it's too late to fix anything. She's a nice woman but it's clear she doesn't care.

She isn't very clear and that is her leads to her downfall. She also grades all the assignments at the end of the the semester, so you could just get destroyed by that alone.

She is very unclear with her assignments and grading criteria for them. Most of our assignments weren't graded until the last day of class, by which time it was too late to try and improve. The material she covered in class was pretty irrelevant to our final paper, same with most of our homework. Our final paper had to be at least 15 pages.

She is unclear with the assignments. She doesn't grade anything until the last day of classes and then she gives you random grades without comments on the assignments. I'm sure there are people who excelled in this course but if you are an average writer and want to get better, she will not help you. If you take this course, be prepared.

Prof Larsen at first seems relatively easy and you think it's a blow off class and then she screws you with a crappy grade at the end of the semester. You don't know any of your grades until the last week of class and then you see your final grade and die inside. Her class honestly made my writing worse and her research area is a total joke.

The class was very unclear, as well as the grading. You will think you are fine, but not receive a grade until the last day of classes when she ultimately decides to screw you over. She is a bad teacher who will not give you any feedback and is also a very awkward person.

You think "oh, I'm a good writer, her reviews aren't great but I'll be fine" No. You won't. Don't take her class. She's unclear, and the directions are basically nonexistent. I've won national awards for academic writing and still only pulled a B-.
