As a typically high scoring teaching assistant who was professionally employed working with databases, I can honestly say, Kathy is the main reason I left NIU. A large percentage of students copied off each other and got better grades than me. I don't care if people cheat but don't punish students contributing actual original thought.

She may be knowledgeable on the topic but she is extremely bad at teaching and extraordinarily unhelpful. At one point she told us to Google our questions instead of asking her. Her teaching style is reading off powerpoints, then expects you to know more than what she "teaches".

Made what could be a fun class hard and boring. Gives unclear assignments and then takes points off for what she MEANT to say. Exams OK, but frustrating HW esp. during COBOL chapter. Rattles off PPTs and refuses to lecture or answer questions on very important/relevant material. TG she's retiring-but she will still teach some classes.

Ive had some bad teachers, but she takes the prize. Book published in the mid 80's, talks about the plan to develop the internet! Need I go on? Specificatons for assigments differ from that in the book or notes, but she doesnt tell you how she wants things done. Thank god for my "generous" TA.

I had her class 8 years ago. One time, a classmate and I were waiting for her outside her office. She came and said, I hope you were not waiting for me and slam the door. We were shock. If you are not agree with her, you are not going to get the grade. She is not very hopeful and worst teacher.

One of the worst teachers I ever hard. Tests are way too hard and she doesn't really help you review for them. Grading is wacky and she really doesn't teach.. more or less just drones off powerpoint slides. If you get her switch ASAP.

Probably one of the overall worst professors in the CS dept. Though I learned from the class I generally did the learning myself. Very Cocky attitude. Her tests are right from the book. I would stay away if given a choice.
