His high level classes are very difficult but I have learned more than any other classes at NIU. He really knows his stuff and will help you for hours at a time if needed. SHOW UP TO CLASS. He gives good lectures but doesn't tend to give any notes. IF YOU MISS CLASS YOU WILL FAIL

The best professor I've had in this department. The class was hard due to the subject but he explains things very well. He knows the subject better than anyone I've ever known. One of the only classes I truly enjoy attending. He is more than willing to help and has spent many hours with me debugging code and helping me understand concepts

His classes were very interesting, the home work assignments were kind of nightmarish but if your a dedicated compsci major and willing to put forth the effort he will definitely meet you half way and is always in his office willing to help you out. I would highly recommend him if you have a passion for learning anything about computer science.

Extremely knowledgeable professor. Assignments are extremely challenging, but will crunch the concepts in your head forever! Duffin is always available during his office hours and is always excited to tackle a bug or two. If you want to learn something in the CS dept, take Duffin! He's a wonderful professor that speaks with great detail.

Knows & loves graphics & related math. A cross btw John Lassiter (Pixar boss) & Cmdr Data. Incredible work-a-holic & always seems available to students--long line at door during office hrs. Pgms relatively difficult in that they r long and involved, but you will learn more about pgming than in any other crs in dept.

Homework assignments are a b****, but if you take good notes, most of the examples are used in the assignments. He keeps good office hours and sometimes seeing him helps a lot more than the TAs. Nice guy though.

Really know his stuff, especially the mathematical side of programming. However, he does go to far in depth sometimes. Programming assignments aren't bad, but the test are difficult. Make sure you get the book for this one.

A real geek's geek. His assignments are easy but fun, and true to both the text and exams. Runs GNOME and EMACS to show examples of makefiles and source files in class. Helpful both in and out of lecture. Has a tendency to go over your head.
