Dr. Shannon is a tough teacher to take, especially if you are not a mathematics major. If you're looking to take Analysis 1 (or 2), try to take Dr. Hetzler or a different teacher. Dr. Shannon is very knowledgable, she also assumes that everyone can understand the concepts in the way she does, and often fails to be able to explain in easier ways.

She knows her stuff, she's fine to ask questions to, she will work with you if you go to her office hours. this is a tough class by design guys, its not her fault, shes a very fair grader, occasionally curves test grades or offers retakes. encourages participation and questions. you'll learn a lot, but see the SI and study if you want to do well.

She is a good professor, teaching calculus is really tough, but she does her best, even though sometimes you have to teach yourself mostly. She will go over any homework question you ask for, and test and not bad at all. She does curve your class grade at the end of the semester, and gives extra credit for not missing classes.

As a person who took Calc before, I found the class was okay. However, I think that if I never saw the material before having Dr. Shannon, I wouldn't have done so well. She is almost too intelligent as she doesn't understand why kids don't understand calculus. Tests are pretty easy, and her lectures are all on the chalkboard. Doesn't do much review

I am certainly not a math major but math is usually my strong point. Professor Shannon's lectures were simply not understandable. New sections were not built up to and the class seemed to go back and forth .

Dr. Shannon tries her best to explain the material and will help you gladly if you ask. Sometimes she doesn't understand how puzzled some students are when taking notes and talking at the same time. She can do a lot of the work in her head too which can be confusing. Tests aren't too hard, go to the SI for help.

I enjoyed her class, but you should only take her if you have a passion for the subject. In order to succeed you'll have to put much more work than a similar class taught by a different teacher, however you will learn more in this class than any other.

My only recommendation is don't take her class. She knows what she is doing a little too well so she doesn't realize she is talking ahead of everyone else. She also gives out way to much homework. Although its on average 2 assignments a week, they take a couple hours each. Its VERY easy to fall behind so make sure you keep up with the learning.

My only advice is DONT TAKE HER CLASSES! This class is extremely difficult. I learned more from reading the textbook than from the actual class. The material is very hard to understand and don't expect to be taught in class. I had to go to tutors and relearn what we were suppose to be taught. She's not a good teacher take another class!

Overall, a very good teacher. Very easy to fall behind if you are not keeping up with the material. However, her exams are very reflective of what she covers and she even gives extra credit opportunity. Most importantly, she is very willing to meet outside of class to give extra assistance.

The class itself is difficult, and if you do not do the practice problems outside of class then you wont do well. Dr. Shannon was extremely helpful, and made sure to answer everyone's questions in class. If she did not get to a question, she would make sure to answer it during her office hours.

Do not take. I am a little biased because Math is not my forte, but I've had math teachers before who I was able to get good grades from, and she was not one of them. Her homework had us explain in words how to do math. If you explained incorrectly, it was wrong. She also had a weird grading system that had nothing to do with letters. AVOID!!!

This class is very difficult, but it's not impossible. we got in study groups for the class and met once a week to study, do the homework, and go to her office hours. she always tried to help us. i thought the tests would be extremely difficult, but they weren't that bad.

NEVER take her class. She is good at math but awful at teaching it and explaining it. The class was a disaster. I depended on the textbook. Maybe they made her dept. chair so she'd have more other duties than teach? Everyone knows she's awful. Only top math students have her approval but we still can't stand her. Makes most students feel stupid.

DO NOT TAKE. Explanations of course material is horrible. She wrote the book so you can't get help there either. If you go to her for help, she makes you feel stupid for not knowing what you are doing. I will never take her again.

I kind of like her. I found her class to be enlighting. At the start of the semester I spent each night crying and I couldn't seem to get a good grade on the homework papers, but once I got the hang of it I learned a lot. She is always willing to help her students. I think she just has trouble understanding that math doesn't come easy to everyone.

*Sigh* what can i say? it was diffcult, very diffcult, a lot of people suffered in the class, she can be condescending, i don't know if she means to be, her office hours are good, be sure to come with questions ready, however, if you can't read and learn from a math textbook, and the text was my best friend here, do not take this class, just don't.
