I had to study my ass off for the A I got, and then it was barely an A. the exams are blue book and you just have to write all the information you know and using the wrong date or name or leaving something will get you points off. She's nice sometimes but kinda condescending. Overall, lots of work and memorization, not as interesting as you think

She's quite knowledgeable; however, she can be very condescending and requires you to know very specific details. Hard class, make sure you show up otherwise you won't do well, she doesn't post her lectures online.

She gives Take-Home Exams where the multiple choice answers are so similar it's basically a guessing test. You will want to go to lecture and take specific notes. The short response is what saved me. I somehow ended up with an A without the curve.

All exams are take-home and based off lecture notes. Show up every class, type everything on the lecture slides, easy A.

all online exams make it impossible to explain yourself. all possible answers for test questions are so similar it is so hard to pick the right one even when you think you know it. class is all lecture and she goes kinda quick. do not recommend.

She knows what she is talking about, she is very experienced. However, you take a lot of notes and missing one class will you hurt you, so try not to skip. The tests are the worst thing. There is too much information to memorize for the exams just for you to write about like 6 things. There is no study guide so you have to study everything.

Studying fossils literally stone you. Posted lecture slides are in pdf flie, all the images removed. You literally have to use google maps to know where the excavation sites are when you look back thru lecture notes. Taking this course definitely taught me how to navigate through wikipedia better than before. Topics are interesting, but lectures.

Her lectures are extremely boring and information full, however, since none of it is viable online if you miss something in your notes it's going to be lost forever. The books are useless and you only need the lectures. Her tests are hard because without any study guide the amount of information to know is indecent compared to specificity required

Most student may not like professor Bard's lectures because they are bit long and full of details. However, professor Bard is always trying to relate the lecture to interesting stuff and interact with students (Fun fact: Potatoes come from South America). Taken this class to fulfill my humanity requirement, I advise natural science major to do so.

This class was a joke. Good humanities elective for getting an easy A+ though, for any of you fellow engineers out there. As a professor, Bard is extremely bland and you might hate going to lecture, but its definitely worth it if you need a GPA boost.

I absolutely love Ancient Egypt and as an archaeology major I really wanted to focus in that area. But somehow, Prof Bard made ancient Egypt the most boring thing in my life. Her lectures are long and boring, her tests and tough, she's a difficult grader and she expects you to memorize 31 dynasties. All she talked about was pharaohs nothing more.

I'm taking AR232 because I'm interested in Ancient Egypt. You will get into the nitty gritty details. She does not post slides online, so going to class is basically essential. Read her textbook, but you'll end up covering most of the material in class anyway. I'm not sure why this is also an Art History course.

Horrible professor. boring as all hell and if you don't know every single, little, minute detail of what she's asking on the exam, you won't pass. For example, putting "before 3000BC" as a date, she will take off because she was looking for 4000-3000 BC. This class was harder than my chem classes. Freaking awful professor, don't take her class.

I was so excited to take the archaeology of ancient Egypt class until I actually started taking it. Bard is nice, but the lectures are boring as hell and they seem to go on forever. The subject is interesting but the way she teaches is very tedious- not in a good way. Office hours with her make you feel stupid, very unhelpful. VERY hard grader

Prof. Bard is as the other students say extremely knowledgable. I never thought that she was condescending or didn't care about her students. She really wants them to do well and is always willing to help. If you go to her office hours with enthusiasm then she'll meet you with the same. Lectures can be dry, but it's not a hard class. I recommend!

Bard is one of the best professors I've had at BU (note: I'm an archaeology major). She may not be the most entertaining professor in the department, but she's an expert in the field and very friendly and approachable if you actually approach her. She's a reasonable grader and extremely helpful with paper if you write it well ahead of deadline.

She is really smart and very knowledgeable. She is not the most approachable professor but she is quite reasonable with grading. The exams are easy. There is really no homework. Just make sure to read the material before coming to class AND GO TO EVERY CLASS and you should get an A. The paper is quite easy - the TF and Bard are quite helpful

Bard is clearly very knowledgeable in the field, but seems disinterested in teaching and dealing with students. My experience with her office hours was disappointingly condescending and unhelpful. The subject matter should be interesting, but the way she presents it is unfortunately confusing and dull.Textbooks aren't necessary, just good notes.

Do not take this class unless you are into EVERY LITTLE DETAIL of the archaeology of ancient civ. While the subject matter could be interesting, Bard presents it in the most boring and uninspired way possible. She is pretty unpleasant and shuns questions. Class is monotonous, tests are not as in-depth as one would think, just know your stuff.

Easy class on a daily basis - just take notes, thats it. There's nightly reading but you end up taking notes on the same material the next day. The exams are wicked hard. I did well but had to study a TON; dates & tiny details count big time. She's a nice lady in general but doesn't care about anyones needs and shuns you when you ask for help
