Comment:
She goes painfully slowly in lecture. I would solve the problem and sit there for about 5-10 minutes doing nothing. Good if you're a slow learner and need every detail from the text and nothing more explained to you but if you're a fast learner and prefer to be given material beyond what is in the workbook, then don't go to this class.

Very good and clear at explaining things. She wrote the workbook so well you don't even need to go to lecture but i recommend it because she explains beautifully. A guaranteed by listening to lecture and going through workbook

If you attend her lectures, you'll understand everything in the workbook perfectly. That said she does nothing but go through the workbook so lectures are optional - but she does such a good job explaining it that I'd recommend going

Chem 1301 is just easy. Do some work and A+ is guaranteed. But, I don't like this prof because she doesn't really have an official office hour. I emailed her once to ask a question that none of the TAs could answer, but she refused to answer it because it was asked via email. So yeah.. that's the only downside of this course

I found Calvin to move at a very slow pace and so I often got distracted in lecture. However, she is very friendly and approachable and answered many of the questions I had when I decided to major in chemistry. She seems like a prof you would want to get to know as I expect she'd be willing to go out of her way to write a reference letter etc.

Not for anyone who did well in grade 12. Spends 30 minutes solving very simple problems that should take 5 minutes max on exams. I don't know about other people but she is very rude one-on-one. I had an appointment with her and showed up 5 minutes early only to be yelled at for showing up early.

Prof. Calvin is amazing! She really explains everything very clearly, and is always willing to help you out. She refers to how she approached the material when she was in school and it really helps! The course itself is quite difficult, but having Prof. Calvin puts you one step ahead!
