Janes is a great teacher. He finds ways to explain the complexities of space to even the most basic students in the class (and there were a few of these) He gives a problem out after every class which usually takes about five minutes and should be an easy A. I highly recommend his class

Good professor but lectures can be boring. Tests are fairly difficult but there are plenty of ways to boost your grade including homework and labs. As boring as lectures are they do help, as well as reading the book.

Lectures were boring and useless, however attendance was mandatory to get the problem sets. I didn't really do the reading, just skimmed the chapters for the answers and as long as you do a decent amount of studying before the midterms, you won't do too bad. Problem sets weren't too bad and labs were easy. Class is scaled up. I got an A-.

I personally loved this class and Prof. Janes. It was a lot of reading but I wouldn't describe it as hard. Not to be cheezy, but Janes was an inspirational professor. He was helpful in the sense that he convinced me that I could excel.

Lectures are the most boring hour and a half ever, but you have to go because you get a daily homework problem handout, which are really good grade boosters. This class takes a bit of work, but the tests are entirely from the textbook and HW, so definitely keep up the reading and it isn't so bad, plus that makes it easy for naptime during lecture.

he is a really nice old man, but his class is boring. He gives daily problem, which is to make sure that you read the chapter for tmr. But they are still counted toward your final grade. The TA, April, is a hard grader, takes off any point that she can. Labs are easy, but she grades really hard on lab reports. Boring class, but nice professor.

Janes's lecture are disorganized and have no structure to them. He rambles about useless concepts. The labs are time consuming. He assigns daily problems sets (He doesn't realize that we aren't in high school anymore). Avoid APRIL PINNICK as a teaching assistant. She is a tough, and unfair grader looking at every chance to take off a ton of points!

Very enthusiastic about astronomy but his class has the potential to be more interesting (In other words, it wasn't interesting). The final was HARD! questions were totally random and insignifcant. The TA graded daily homeworks and labs a little too harsh at times.

Just read the book since this guys monotonous voice will put you to sleep on his first tangent. And the lecture notes are straight from the book. Test averages are low since questions are on useless details, not concepts. Labs are easy. Daily homeworks are also.

janes is a very nice man but his slow, soothing voice makes it a bit too easy to doze off during lecture. tests are VERY short (20 questions) and can cover 200pages of material, so the content can seem extremely random. very low class test averages (low 60's). easy labs. go to lec to get the daily HW

Tests are ridiculous. Average is in the 50s. Labs are a waste of time, as well as lectures, but tests have some material that is only covered in lectures. You don't really know what to write down in class sometimes, because he goes on a bit of a tangent. Wouldn't recommend unless it's required.

Boring,at least 10 people blatantly sleeping each class. Test grades avg. in the 50-60 range. Tests are hard and cover alot of material but few questions (20) so they are unpredictable and random. I know some kids who did well. Lucky I guess. Labs easy but time consuming. Harder than expected.

Boring, rambling, never clear about what you should take notes on. Questions on exams are completely random, you can study all you want but won't get a good grade. And god help you if you get Tyler as a TA.

Lecture is boring and I'm never sure what to write down. Lab is pointless. His open note tests are quite easy, though. Do not take this class for fun, only if required.
