He rambles on about random things and its hard to tell whats actually useful for class. Youre graded only on tests but 2/3 of the test is open notes. Assigns lots of videos and readings which are both very dry. The lecture itself is also dry.

Gives multiple videos for homework a night. These videos ranging from 1-2 hours long in duration. Requires you to take notes on very specific things. In addition, you are required to read in the text book & take more notes whilst doing so. When you come to class he gives you more videos to watch which could charge you & more notes to take. Smh.

Things to know, 1. You will have open/closed note exams & lectures he gives are closed note. 2. Write everything he says because it will be on the exam. 3. Prepare for interesting videos that range from "Whaling wonders of the world" to "Dogs that changed the world" I kid you not. 4. He's partly deaf so speak up when asking a question. Good luck

Took a 2.5 hour class with him & it was AWFUL. Spends an hour going over assignments for that week (which are hour long documentaries that you have to take very detailed notes on). Some of the videos have to be taken from the library as well. Can't collect his thoughts and is so hard to listen to. Thinks he is funny but is actually just annoying.

Johnson is so boring and he is so lost in his mind that he really isn't in any condition to teach. The amount of textbook work and video documentaries he assigns are just absurd for a 100 level class, especially considering he doesn't even put in a homework grade. He takes forever to get to the point and goes on leftist political tangents.

Basically you have to come to class or you won't get any of the assignments. Thats the only thing class is for, 1hr 15min of "Dr. J" talking about every last detail of the assignment. He assigns documentaries and lots of notes to take.

Dr. J is a G stack, he kills it. May take a while to get to the point at times but he knows a great deal of information and likes to tell random stories and who doesn't like that? I'd recommmend taking his classes

Worst class I've ever taken. He grades only based on the three quizzes he gives and nothing more. Most kids failed at least one of the three quizzes and his lectures don't make a ton of sense. Means well but doesn't explain things well and refuses assign any papers or anything to help raise your grade. NEVER miss class or you'll be SOL.

This class easily could have been an online class. Homework is exclusively video assignments, and they are on random things. The tests are based on how you take notes, not on the substance of the videos. And in class I did not learn much either.

Takes 45 minutes explaining the videos you have to watch for homework, and they are all at least an hour long. Probably watched 15 hours worth of movies, and you need to take detailed notes on them or you'll fail the tests. He only gives 3 exams.

Be prepared, he assigns hours of documentaries throughout the semester. If you watch when they're assigned it is easy to keep up with, if not you will be up till 5am. Hilarious and nice man, one of my favorites but he will not stand to be disrespected. A little awkward but in a funny way. Would definitely recommend his class. Loves his soda!

Great class and professor. I learned a lot of interesting information I unfortunately ended up forgetting after the class. Information didn't require comprehension making the tests very easy. Expect to learn random information like "Which counties hunt whales?" "What year did the passenger pigeon go extinct?"

This was the weirdest class I've ever taken. Still not sure what kind of geography it was. Dr. J is hilarious and actually talks about interesting things. Textbook homework was absurd, but necessary because the tests were half open book. The key is to not leave the homework until last minute. Easy A if you do all of the assignments.

Learned a lot in his class, very nice guy. Will give big curves on tests as long as your class is respectful to him. Most important skill is note taking , so take very good notes because 60% of your tests are open book. Participate in class.

Overall a great guy, but discusses points that are not entirely relatable to Geography. Tons of homework and videos. Total of three tests throughout the semester, which are open (Textbook Notes) and closed (In-Class Notes) notes. Take lots of notes during class, even if it doesn't relate to Geography because it will most likely be on the tests.

He's a really nice guy and means well. But get ready for hours of videos outside of class. Everything I learned was extremely helpful and i'm overall am glad I took the class.

He is very informative. I learned a lot from his class. it's a good opportunity to take his class to know what Geography is really about! Especially, those who believe geography is just studying about maps.
