I had Dix for my Wittsem last year and absolutely loved him. He can be a little goofy at times, and is very liable to go on tangents during class, but if you talk to him after he can be so helpful. You need to be a serious student with him, but he is very dedicated to English and so encouraging. I'm taking a class with him next semester.

I graduated a few years back and I often think of how Dix motivated and encouraged me to write. I have fond memories of having dinner at his house with Mimi and he was the type of prof that I WANTED to write for and impress. I wish I still had him him my life to keep me on track with writing.

Dix was the highlight of my senior year at Wittenberg. I wrote more, and was more inspired when I was a student of his than any other time at Witt. Outside of the classroom, Kent and his wife Mimi, are very caring and understanding. If you truly love to write and want some motivation and inpiration Dix is your prof.

I've been out of college for 16 years and now teach high school English. Looking back on the classes I had with Kent, I shudder. Sadly, what I remember most was his obsession with getting a short story or novel of his published. Very little teaching about literature. He seems to think he's witty and intellectual. Definitely the low point at Witt.

Had Dix for fiction--I found him arrogant and abrasive at a speaking event, so decided to take his class and see if he'd challenge me. He did. I got more out of going to his office or the coffee shop he goes to with writing in hand and questions in mind. Serious students only. He's not there to make you feel good 'bout yourself. He teaches.

Dix means well. I had him for several classes. Once you get past his flighty exterior, he really does have valuable things to say or questions to ask you haven't even thought about. And he is so helpful with rec letters, etc.

He has no course outline-- be prepared for sudden assignments. Be careful with what you say in the journals because it may come up again later. Gets very distracted in class. You won't know grades until semester end. But he's an amusing guy.
