Comment:

Dr. Murray is a very boring professor, but a really cool guy. He forces you to pay attention tho because he gives quizzes every lecture. The exams are really tough but if you memorize the powerpoints/quizzes, you'll get an A on them. He gives a fair amount of extra credit. I've literally got an entire text exam worth of extra credit.

Very easy class. There are several extra credit opportunities, one being a Saturday field trip for 20points. The exams are harder, but if you study and get the extra credit you will be fine. Lab was pretty boring, and you should try to get prof Nalepa for that part of 218.

Dr Murray is very knowledgeable about the subject. Most students are kinda scared of him, but if you're a good student (ie show up to class, do your work) he's more than willing to help you. It's also a hard class, lots of information and quizzes every lecture. Not many extra credit opportunities, so you need to keep up with homework and labs.

Very knowledgeable and passionate about this subject. Tests are tough but he allows you to drop your lowest test score. He has plenty of personal stories to bring the subject to life. Homework is easy and a MUST to do because it boosts up your grade significantly (total homework is worth an exam score).

Comment:

Teacher may be slightly arrogant, but he is very knowledgeable. Not always clear on assignments. However, he is always willing to answer questions and talk to you about the subject matter. As long as you pay attention in lecture and read the book (God forbid we actually work for our grade in college), You will come out just fine.

Boring and kinda mean. He should not be a teacher. He is very smart but he just doesnt have the teaching skills he should. Reads off powerpoints which are online. gives 4 test and a cummulative final. Test are tricky and difficult, I really had to study. Offers a lot of other things besides the tests which allowed me to get an A. Expects too much!

Horrible class, gives multiple tests that are not listed on the syllabus. Thinks that because he has a PhD. that everyone will know what he's talking about to big of a god complex to understand that its an intro class. Would not recommend, would never take again. Avoid.

Quite possibly the most miserable class I have ever taken in my entire educational career. Unless you were a Geology groupie of his or in the know with people in department you had no chance in the class. He addressed the class as if we already knew the material and the tests were incomprehensibly difficult. Avoid Groundwater at ALL COSTS!

Very interesting class, very smart teacher, he does seem a bit like a know-it-all, but honestly he does seem to know it all... Lots of quizzes, one every class time, only two exams, both only on the lab info. You have to read to do well on the quizzes, and read thoroughly, sometimes they are over very short bits of info from the text. I got an A.

impossible, the worst class ever, the labs are horrible and the tests are crazy, half the stuff on them you never learn, never take this class just to get a science credit out of the way, not worth it and way to much work for a lower level class

He's one of those people who is so smart that he assumes everyone else knows the same things as him. He talks about things in groundwater like we know what the hell he is talking about. This class is freaking hard....take a different elective. Unless you know some major things about groundwater

The labs suck and the professor grades hard on them. Brought my grade down from A- to B-. The teacher does not help alot with labs becuase i think he is affraid of giving away answers. Other then that he is a great teacher with alot of knowledge in GEO
