Comment:
Not a great lecturer, evident in the amount of people attending lectures. Gives tough homeworks and tough exams. Be ready to read the textbook before every lecture. The average is curved to a C+. His grading criteria is different compared to that of other instructors. To summarize: terrible lecturer, smart teacher.

Not an easy class. If you suck at coding, suck at figuring out how hardware works, suck at reading documentation, you should probably stay away. That being said, you walk out a microcontroller master. Labs are not easy, anyone that says otherwise is a liar or got carried by a smart partner. Tests based on PPT's. Overall, super professor, fun class.

This guy is so easy. Just do the labs which are super straight forward and you get some bonus points if you do a little more work. Because I had such a high grade, I barely studied for the final, did badly, but still got a B+. Super easy.

Good teacher, extremely firm grasp on the material. This guy has a scary good memory, people ask him obscure questions & he's able to answer.

This was just the little 1-unit intro seminar, nothing huge. Pretty boring but brought in various professors doing exciting research at UCD. Posted all the slides online. there was actually a final, VERY easy, but still a final for a 1-unit class? Go to lectures to sign in, and review for "final" day before.

It's too easy for the TAs to screw you over on the program grading when students are using 3 different simulators on 5 different operating systems. On the final project I worked my tail off, turned in a 100% functional program, and the TA gave me a 30%. Why? He used the wrong simulator to grade it.

This class is AWESOME. Programs and homework are unbelievably easy, although exams are harder to study for and require a bit of creativity under pressure. Oh, and by the way, class is boring - that's kind of the nature of the class. This is a computer architecture class, not film studies.

This embedded processor class is one of the best I have taken at UCD. Practical/hands-on stuff. Prof Wilkin made class very interesting.

Exam questions are challenging but his curve is very reasonable. Lectures are good. Knows his stuff, can answer any question. Stays after class each time to answer all question, easy to talk to. I'm taking him again this quarter in next class and learning a lot.

Professor Wilken is a very good lecturer who is approachable and encourages question. The powerpoint slides to seem to drag on a bit. Test questions are a bit tricky and test understanding not memorization. Like all other classes, if you take the time to learn the material, you will be fine.

Professor Kent is so cool. I am Sid, and i took this class with professor kent. he is my favourite professor ever. I thought his test was very hard as he asked random questions that I had not learned about. No hard feelings professor ken, I am just being honest. I still wov you!!!!

Kent Wilken is an interesting character. He will remember everything about you if he asks (ex. your name, major, etc). Ask him anything and he will answer you in a clear and precise manner. His grading curve is awesome! If you are failing, you can always make it up by doing better in the final.

Know material extremely well. Very helpful, will stay after class to answer all questions. Interesting programming assignments, but not trivial. Allows programming assignments to be done with a partner, so find a talented friend to sign up with you for the class.

Very good teacher. He is nice and really wants students to do well. If you do significantly better on the final than the midterm, he will increase the weight of the final and decrease the weight of the midterm.

Very unclear...made a lot of mistakes in presentations during lecture...forgot part of the 2nd midterm which caused a lot of confusion...forgot to post critical information for the final which caused even more confusion. The TAs' office hours were critical to getting an A in this class, but I did have to spend 40hrs/week on this class alone.

Ignore the good rating down there. He is not a good lecturer. He cant keep the class intersted and so only 10 people actually attend lecture while the rest skip his lecture. His program gets harder as they go along and the homework is a challenge. His midterm and final are hard to study for.

If you do your job as a student you shouldnt have any problem in the class (ie dont expect to be spoonfed). If you actually go to lectures, you'll find them relevant to HW/Programming assignments and tests, so is the book used. Only people I saw with problems were those that didn't come to lecture.
