Comment:

The thing is, he DOES make the class easy: he teaches slowly with very detailed and relatively easy to follow steps. The problem is that the thought of showing up at the chances of being humiliated or put on the spot made me anxious to the point of not showing up/ not passing the class. That doesn't make him a bad person, but I couldn't handle it.

Comment:

Matt Nelsenador has to be the worst mathematics professor I've ever had. He's condescending towards students who ask questions, and may even have OCD, since he will put you on the spot for even cracking your knuckles on exam day. His lectures are clear and you will understand algebra after taking his class, however, note that he is condescending.

Comment:

One of the worst teachers I have ever had. I went to office hours and he was very rude and not helpful. Be aware on his test you have to do it exactly the same way he does it other wise you'll end up with a poor grade. ALSO READ THE BOOK BECAUSE HE ASKS QUESTIONS ON HIS TEST ABOUT IT :(. 10/10 would never take his class again.

Matt Nelsenador is the most VILE human being I have ever encountered. He has no respect for the people who are taking this level of math and views them unworthy of his attention. He is the kind of professor who makes who scared to ask questions and dread attending his class. He would stop lecture to mock students for sneezing or tapping their pen.

Professor Nelsenador had a negative attitude and condescending demeanor towards students. At least once during every lecture, he called out a student for a rather minute reason, embarrassed them, and treated them harshly. In my opinion, his lectures and homework matched up. His tests were hard in comparison. Overall, good teacher but awful attitude

AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS. He was the only professor who taught this when I took it so I didn't have a choice, but if possible, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM. He's super rude to students and doesn't like when anyone asks questions, and he really doesn't help whenever a question comes up. He makes fun of kids and is a confusing teacher.

He is extremely rude & doesn't encourage questioning. He says he will give partial credit on exams & doesn't or gives very few points. He is completely unprofessional & makes fun of his students. More than once he would put things on his tests that he didn't teach & expect you to know it. Probably the worst professor I've had.

Incredibly rude prof with a quick temper to match. He lashes out at students for the most random and unexpected reasons, and I'm not surprised to see other reviews corroborating this. Just avoid the professor and do the work and you'll be fine. His class is fairly easy as long as you do the homework, which is surprising for a guy who acts so tough.

One time I sneezed in class and he flipped out on the whole class for saying "bless you" while he was lecturing. He never answers questions seriously and he makes you feel like an idiot for even asking a question.

His lectures are typically clear and easy to understand, but he's a real jerk. He's so unironically rude to the point that it's hilarious. A girl sneezed and he told the class to stop talking. He also directly insulted a boy for having bad posture. His tests aren't very difficult but definitely don't go into the class expecting any kind of respect.

This class was a breeze if you've taken calc in highschool, he was kind of a jerk in lectures, but maybe that's just me. I liked that he did all his lecture problems on the chalkboard and answered questions, but a lot of lecture ended up being proofs that weren't necessary to learn. My friends that went to his office hours said he was helpful there

His lectures are okay, gives recommended homework and posts practice tests, but don't be fooled because all of this is much easier than the actual exams. He seems like a huge dork at first but he can get pretty mean at times, as well as making people feel stupid for asking questions in class. I wouldn't take him again.

He's an OKAY professor. He's clear when he teaches and does assign homework that help to prepare you for tests. His tests are hard. The other thing about him is that he has a TERRIBLE attitude. He doesn't respect his students and gives attitude if you speak to him alone. Would never take him again.

Wasn't a bad teacher but was a horrible person. I got the feeling that he didn't want his students to succeed. No practice tests and only practice problems. Tests are reasonable but he's a tough grader. Takes off multiple points for the smallest mistakes. Also he WILL call you out if he sees you using your phone which is annoying.

He's a little dorky. I personally think that's pretty funny but probably not everyone thinks the same. His lecture is helpful and he explains it in an easily understandable way. Hw is not mandatory. Practice exams are easier than actual exams so be really prepared. If you took AP cal in high school then you should pass with a B easily.

Rude, makes fun at student's expense and intimidates us into not asking questions. Acts surprised when he can do a problem like he expected not to be able to. Cannot answer many questions. Class lectures are nothing like homework which is nothing like tests (does not prepare well for exams). Tiny practice exams. Passable class, but he sucks. AVOID

I thought Nelsenador was a fair guy. He refuses to tell you exactly what is on the test and can sometimes get oddly specific with the questions he asks on tests. He was definitely helpful in office hours. Attend them! If he gets to know you personally he tends to be more lenient with grading. The curve was pretty good, I would take his class again.

Comment:

This was my first time taking calc and his first time teaching MAT 17A and I thought he did a pretty good job. He can get a little sassy, but if you just sit and listen, you'll be fine. He can be funny, but he's also awkward. I went to his office hours and it was awkward, but I got the help I needed. Found his explanations and examples helpful.
