Professor Allen spends most of the class telling personal anecdotes that aren't exactly relevant to the class. He doesn't give feedback when handing back your writing assignment and doesn't explain what is expected of you or why you earned the grade that you did. He doesn't reply to emails and is overall just a pain to try to deal with.

I dreaded Communications, and getting him made it worse. His big paper for the semester is due halfway through, and the "rubric" is hardly that. This paper has no structure and he never explains it. The stories he tells are a waste of class time, which you should just skip, because everything on the test comes from the book! DO NOT GET HIM!

I was so terrified of taking public speaking that I purposely avoided taking the class my first two years of college. However, Professor Allen's class was not only easier than I thought it would be, it was also my favorite class I took this semester! He just wants you to do well, and he gives you tips on how to relieve anxiety. And he's funny!

Funniest professor I've ever had. Class is fun but he tends to get off topic a lot but relates his stories back to the chapter. You HAVE to read the textbook or you wont pass, but if you do read through the chapters the tests are that bad. Besides that he's an awesome professor. Definitely take him!

As a night class, I didn't mind the length because Allen added funny stories and jokes into his lecture. Study for tests! Don't rely just on lecture notes, but the book as well. If you actually put some effort into this common core class, you will get a 4.0, no sweat.

Allen is a nice guy but a terrible teacher. He gets off topic CONSTANTLY, when he does, it's never relavent to the class, he brags a lot and when you ask him for help he is condecending. I had him for a night class and I dreaded every tuesday. If you can avoid him, DO SO! People say he's funny, but it's a dry boring humor .

Allen is one of my favorite professors. He can get off topic a little at times, but his stories are usually relevant and plus they just give the class a good laugh. I hated the idea of taking a night class but he made it worth going to.

Overall good guy. Gets off-topic A LOT, so night class takes forever. He's ridiculously hilarious though, so pick your poison. Most of the exam material is NOT covered in class; you must read it on your own from the textbook. Exam's aren't too bad. Low A's are possible if you've studied for a couple hours before class. Strongly recommend.

He's the worst teacher I've ever had. If you approach him about something he did wrong he starts to insult you. OFFTOPIC. So you get half a lecture and then an Exam the next class period. He says follow his notes guide but his questions don't come from there. And his definitions don't match the book or what he said in 30 minutes of lecture nonsense

Not the best prof. He gets off topic A LOT. Class was fun most of the time though, but he tends to keep you as long as possible. Does not grade hard on speeches-you pretty much get a good grade if he can tell you put time into it. Tests suck, could never figure out where he got the questions from. One of the worst, most frustrating professors ive ever had. He rants on about his personal life for 3/4 of class. He has endless stories that have nothing to do with what your talking about in class. And he's annoying to listen to. Tests are not on the information discussed in the book. If you get him for a prof switch.
