Here's what I wrote on Kevin's end of term Evaluation: Prof. Flynn's classes are so engaging, that if I have to go to the bathrrom during lecture I RUN. Our loss is Saskatoon's gain.

Flynn is a great prof. Clear, insightful lecturer, open to other viewpoints, and incredibly helpful & supportive. Actually cares about his students. You have to be blind not to see that there's a lot of substance underneath the humour. He's the real deal.

Comment:
He excels at imitations of Bart Simpson and characters from Sesame Street -- if you need to catch up on any episode you've missed just ask him. He keeps threatening to go away, but he's been seen red-faced and skulking in the hallways. Literature is a mystery to this fellow. Like the man said "It's all packaging!" Buyer beware!

i agree with the last person. why can't a prof be charismatic AND smart? flynn's both. just like he's a hard marker but very friendly and helpful. he does so much to encourage students with his treatment of them in class and his tough (but kind) comments on papers. not smart? he used quantum physics to help explain postmodernism, and it made sense!

Kevin's reading skills-both of books and of people-are what make him brilliant. If you bother to look past that charismatic front you'll find an intuitive, informed, and delightfully edgy prof. He has a knack for pulling the best from you-you'll improve as a writer and thinker, not just memorize some old guy's viewpoint. UofS-you're in for a treat.

Comment:
The previous bad rating is asinine. I doubt Kevin got PhD from McGill by being a poor textual reader. I sat in a room with 10 other grad students who were not only impressed with his close readings but blown away with how he somehow managed to tailor discussions to the individual interests of everyone in the class. He is the ideal modern prof.

Are you all joking? Can't any of you tell quality from packaging? This prof. was all packaging. Sure, he's charismatic, smooth, diligent at answering e-mails and also a poor textual reader. Appealing to the masses is quite different from being truly smart.

I get a nice vibe from him, keeps you awake in class too which is a hard task considering the material. 2much emphasis on attendance and participation in this course though, but I'd still say he was the best english prof at conu.

He IS a hard marker, but you WILL learn from it. More than any prof, he made me feel like I was learning at the university level. Very smart. Very funny. Very dedicated. It's true, he answers e-mail at midnite. I learned more about how to read lit in his class than in all my other classes combined.

He's an awesome prof. Sad to see him leave Concordia - he was one of their best assests. He marks hard, but he makes class super enjoyable. He's funny, intelligent, and any man who can associate any aspect of (boring) Can. Lit. to The Simpsons is genius in my book.

wow. I took modern canadian poetry with this man... what a blessing from the sky. I used to think that modern canadian poems about rocks were kind of boring, but this witty delight (who's married- sorry kids!) made the class very attendable. Refreshing!

This Professor makes coming to class fun. He actually made Canadian Lit interesting through his humour and knowledge on the subject. He's kind, modest, quite humorous and not bad to look at. He's helpful, charismatic and has the BEST personality.

He's funny, charismatic and can relate to his students very well. He understands that some stories are really boring, he doesn't assume that just because it is old that it's quality material.
