Dr. McKay is an amazing professor, and everyone who says different (and is being grammatically incorrect in doing so) is just mad because they have no idea what they are doing in English class. As an English teacher now, I can say she is a genuine, down-to-earth, quick-witted individual, and I am honored to have been a student in her class.

If you are an English major at ESU, your goal should be to take a class with Dr. McKay. Her Grammar course is essential to your future, and even if you are struggling, she gives multiple opportunities to improve your grades. The best Chair the English Department could ask for!

If you're not a good writer you'll have a lot of trouble with this class. Your grade is mostly based on the papers and she is tough. I always got B's on my papers but most of my class didn't do as well on them. You read a lot of books too that have quizzes that help but don't really hurt your grade. She's nice and appreciates your honesty.

DONT TAKE HER, i just took her and she was terrible!! i got straight A's in english, took her and got C's, i went to the writing studio for every paper and that didn't even help. Everything must be her way and she picks favorites, if you need english please don't be stupid, take someone else!

I used to love writing, now... I hate it. She's rude, judgmental and opinionated. Everything has to be her way, even if you're way is right. The only good thing about her class is she allows re-writes, which I always needed cause of how hard she grades; however my grade never goes up that much. DON'T take her!

I didn't really like how she was really opinionated: she was right and that was it. And we're talking about interprtation here, that's open to all different opinions. But besides that, the class itself was OK. The papers were a pain, and she's a tough grader. But at least she allows rewrites.

Loved the subject before I took this course. She gives misleading corrections on papers and is not clear on what she is actually looking for. Does not accept anything which isn't exactly how she wants it. Don't take her if you like to write, she will change. your. mind.

Very easy to get along with, she gets very involed in her discussions. all you have to do is read a short story before calss and you talk about it. she is very flexiable with her assignments and will allow lates as long as youre not consistant. Highly recommened. :)

dr. mckay is such a sweetheart and always willing to help. grammar came naturally to me, but i know for many people in my class, it did not. although they struggled, she never gave up on them. i would definitely recommend her.
