TERRIBLE TEACHER! Mumbles, can't hear him. Has no idea how to talk to non-experts, teaches like he's talking to a bunch of math professors. Hardly does any example problems in class, the ones he does do are way too complicated to understand. Most of the notes are him doing derivations of formulas that no one understands, remembers, or needs. AVOID!

Hes not only monotone and boring, he makes things way more complicated than it has to be. He does not take attendance. Not the worst choice but would suggest taking it with another professor.

Very clear, has neat handwriting, shows step by step processes. Recommend sitting by the front because he has a monotone voice. Definitely have a study group, helped me pass. Lets you cheat off homework, all of his tests are 20 questions, but getting to the answer is a process. Overall very good teacher.

Didn't learn anything useful in this diff eq class. The most important equations, such as the radioactive decay equation and the logistic equation, are not covered. The textbook is terrible. 100% of the grade comes from exams. It is almost impossible to get an A or B.

very good teacher. knows how to teach and you can tell he loves statistics but is a bit boring because his voice is monotone. bottom line is that if you like math and you're interested then this class shouldn't be too bad. gives you lots of grades to help you pass.

By far the worst teacher i have ever had. Makes things way more difficult then they need to be. Attendance is mandatory, and believe me..if your late then he will be sure to call you out on it. He is extremely rude and has nothing nice to say. Not helpful whatsoever. Noone should take him. Save yourself a grade..

A horrible teacher. He hardly helped you at all, would teach in a way that was entirely different from the book, which made doing homework virtually impossible. Take this class in the fall, and not with Dr. Schafer if you can. He was a useless teacher and though I am smart, got a grade I wish were higher, all because of his apathy towards the class

Do Not Take! If you do not get to class early enough to get one of the first few rows, it is very difficult to hear this guy. He always mumbles, and if asked questions he will make you look stupid. He trys to show his supperiority through his rediculous rules of only 2 absences. IF YOU MISS MORE YOU GET 5% of total grade!

DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. He treats it like a kindergarden class, and his teaching methods are insufficient. He also mumbles and is very hard to hear at times.

Do NOT take this professor. His policies are rediculous, his tests are very difficult and he does not offer any help outside of class. if you try to talk to him he basically just responds with an attitude as if he is superior to you in everyway.

we were only allowed 2 absences during the semester before 5% was taken off the grade after each absence. ridiculous policy. the class was run way too strictly. the emphasis isnt even on the material if the class is run so strictly..this is college. teach the material. this is not about teaching discipline. we're all adults here.

Stresses theory over ability. If planning to be a math major then you'll apreciate him, if not find an easier teacher and save yourself the frustration.

GREAT PROF. Stresses concepts and ideas (which tends to be more difficult) rather than a plug and chug approach. This class will benefit those who wish to understand the theory of Linear Algebra.

He is a very good teacher, he goes through every steo of every problem even if it takes him 10 minutes to do so. It makes it helpful so you know where and how he is getting his answer. His tests are basically the homework problems, just a little harder!
